You will not be able to register a name with a period in it.  Maybe try different-sparks with a hyphen instead of a period.

Sorry, my client is syncing. Could someone else send please?

Technical Support / Re: Does the X of BitSharesX stand for eXperimental?

Here is a good place to  start:   https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2995.0

What is that? Any chance you can provide a URL that I don't have to opt into some MS bullshit?

Thanks!

Sorry, my mistake.  I have edited post with correct url.

The X in BitSharesX stands for eXchange. BitSharesX is live, it's the final chain. If there is to be any related offspring there will be a snap-shot from itself.

ProtoShares were renamed to PTS due to trademark issues, it's the same thing.

So PTS is or isn't the same thing as BTSX?

PTS was the first crypto launched by BM and I3, it is a more traditional "bitcoin-clone" type of currency but with a novel mining algorithm called Momentum that was meant to be CPU only. It turned out to be GPU mineable but only after a certain time, and is still being mined to this day although it has serious issues with it's difficulty due to large swings in mining interest due to snapshots.

PTS gives the right to claim parts in DACs based on your stake at the time of a snapshot, it was the case for BTSX at the end of february, and other snapshots that have been held since and future snapshots will all honor PTS.

So no, PTS is not the same thing as BTSX, it's a separate crypto currency.

Where can one find info on mining PTS?

General Discussion / Re: BTC address test
« on: September 17, 2014, 12:04:18 am »
I see. OK, so this is a dust test then. It will serve to gauge a maximal propagation scenario.

Thanks for your help! You deserve a tip. And that brings to mind a question I've had awhile.

Are the tips around here real, in the form of cryptocurrency / cryptoshares, or is it a matter of attribution (attaboys) for just being generally helpful?

I like your initiative, and I think you aare going to make an excellent addition to our BitShares community, So I have just sent you a larger BTC spend to the same address. You should see the first confirmation in 10 minutes or so (hey, it's noy bitshares, or you would see it in 10 seconds or less  :) ).

No need to tip me. Just stay active in our community.

Thanks!  :)

It's been 15 minutes but I haven't seen it yet. I know Electrum uses centralized servers to access the blockchain rather than directly as with most other clients. This is one reason for the test, to see how much time it takes to propagate into my wallet.

The default (auto server select) was electrum.thwg.org. I switched it to use electrum.cryptopush.com and it took a few minutes to "sync", but still nothing.  I'm wondering if this is normal.

No confirmations yet. Will probably take a long time because it is "dust" (as per your request). If you want me to send you a larger amount so that it confirms quickly, you'll have to figure out how you are going to pay me back  :)
