hello
today i started my bitshares-x wallet and it wont conect ---- version 4.20 win 7
i searched the net for info and i found this
https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/releases/tag/v0.4.24
it tells bitshares-x has be moved to bitshares
and the bitshares-x.info page is offline
as a normal user i dont understand where to find the new wallet if i need one
or what this is all about why the page is offline?
i will need help
thanks
-
bitshares-x.info is not offline, it redirects all requests to https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/releases -
-
thanks for the fast reply
so its real bitshares-x is now bitshares?
and if i download the walled version on gihub 4.24 and install it it will show my balances ?
or do i have to do something to import them ?
thanks again
on my end the bitshares-x,info does not redirect it shows an error - page cant be found
-
roselee,
this is just rebranding - BitShares X was renamed to BitShares, all your balances and transactions won't be affected
-
thank you
after the first shock i already calmed down :)
but i do still have the walled problem
my version is 4.20 run on win7
so do i need to update to bitshares 4.24 ?
and is anything required befor i do so ?
thanks again
my friend has 4.17 is any action required for that version ?

Yes you both need to upgrade to the Bitshares wallet v0.4.24, the old ones won't work anymore. I'm not sure about the Windows version but at least on Linux a copy was made of the previous BitsharesX directory containing the wallet and blockchain data. The new folder will be called only Bitshares, with no X.
I think you should just try to install the new client and run it, for safety you could make a backup of the wallets folder before doing so though.

I attempted to update on Ubuntu 14.10. I had probably a fairly old version before which used to work. I followed the instructions posted at: github.com/janx/bitshares/blob/master/BUILD_UBUNTU.md
When I try to run either the client or the qt wallet I am getting an assert exception:
Loading blockchain from: /home/"Redacted"/.BitShares/chain
Loading config from file: /home/"Redacted"/.BitShares/config.json
Initializing genesis state from built-in genesis file
Please be patient, this will take a few minutes...
Successfully re-indexed 0 blocks in 0 seconds.
Blockchain size changed from 0MiB to 0MiB.
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'fc::assert_exception'
Aborted (core dumped)
Any suggestions?

What OS?

there should be a list for "delegates" .. there you can "thumb up" those delegates ..
or alternatively you can go to the console and type
approve <delegate-name>
-
my os is win7
what more do you need to know `?
thanks for that help with voting
yes i do get a list of delegates
-
Hm ... odd ...
10 assert_exception: Assert Exception
now >= start_timestamp:
Is your local time and local time zone "correct"?!
-
yes it is
i switched the language of my wallet to german since i am located in austria
do you think it has to do with the time set ?
do i have to worry ?
