General Discussion / Re: so many week hands?

Yeah there was always a chance there would be a dip when the exchanges allowed deposits. (A lot of supply up for sale at once.) It's actually holding up pretty well.

It's strange when you consider the amount of IPO'S where investors/donators make money from weak products, and now you have the most awesome product ever, where people have had their money tied up for months and the fact that some IPO investors & donators have lost money is obviously disappointing.

I think it's possible this could go down in the record books as an um, 'significant' marketing failure.
The 'mainstream' audience they were targeting obviously haven't shown up at the exchanges.
In terms of a marketing strategy targeting the alt-coin market,  the people who would be buying BTSX at this stage, until the last month when a handful of people started posting on forums trying to inform people and create a buzz there was literally no BTT/forum based marketing campaign.

Having said that I'm INCREDIBLY confident in BTSX. This is just going to have to be one of the times where the product sells itself.

The info website has a great look http://bitshares-x.info/ and once people start downloading the wallet and chatting about it. It's going to the moon.

Edit: I will be shocked if BitShares X isn't sitting at, at least no. 5 in a week or two.

Not sure you are correct "The 'mainstream' audience they were targeting obviously haven't shown up at the exchanges. " someone has shown up, its been the third largest traded coin after bitcoin and litecoin so plenty of buyers.

Still no answer to my original question "whos holding the week hands". Why are so many holders selling? the buying doesn't surprise me, but, whos giving it to them at such a discount?

There are number of ppl that got into pts early and can profit even selling at prices that would constitute a loss for the average ags holder prior to the snapshot

no, its not that. I mined some of the first blocks before it was pools only and i cart imagine anyone in my position cashing out now.

My guess is that there are a number of PTS holders that don't understand or don't believe in BTSX and are unloading at their first chance. I see this as a short term thing.

hmm, but to be holding pts and following it close enough to cash in quickly suggests people who keep a regular eye on the forum? I guess they could be selling to buy back in as the typical launch is a week of price dropping, but that's risky if you know what you are holding. Im looking for another explanation, any other theory's?

I see nearly 0.5 million traded today which despite the 25% loss is still great news (for every seller there has to be a buyer) however, the volume of sellers took me by surprise.  Its there a rational explanation? coders needing to pay rent, eat, ect. Or an exchange with a bag full of something they don't understand?

Please let me know your thoughts

roughly:
PTS * 1.28 * 500
AGS * 3.33 * 500

exact number has more precision

Thanks toast, why are AGS worth more than PTS? I know when we exchanged PTS for AGS there was a bonus for example 1.7 AGS for 1 PTS or 80 AGS for 1 BTC but why are they now worth so much more btsx?

Charles, are you asking if there is an opportunity for you to rejoin the fold?

I don't know how irreparable the damage was when you broke away but i followed you and bytemaster from the first threads on bitcointalk and it was the two of you together that made me an investor. I believe you have a set of skills which is not present in the current team. I have seen threads by bytemaster where he too has said as much.

I worry from an outsider is why don't you stick with a project? Are you not a tam player?, seems a strange mix with the skills you have. I would love to hear your views on this and others.

Good luck whatever you do next

So my question to you, can i be of assistance or would i just get in the way at this stage?
+ The current hardware requirements are "a cheap VPS is enough"
+ mining is not going to happen with BitShares ecosystem, so you can let your miners do what every they do currently
+ you can download the latest wallet from github and compile (or your the windows wallet) and try to find bugs in the wallet/network
+ have fun :)

Thanks xeroc, is there a windows version of the wallet? if not i will try and get my coder interested to help find bugs, he mined a few blocks on his computer when he was working out how to set up my pc's so he has some interest in the project.

Im desperate to help out and get involved with this. My technical knowledge is minimal, i have been mining various currency's for a little over twelve months. In fact my house, 5 bedroom detached is fully heated by my mining rig! I water cool the gpus and pump the heated water around the central heating system via a heat ex changer. Last summer my family and i also had are baths heated by a gpu rig. I tell you this to demonstrate that while not being technical im not bad with problem solving. For all coding requirements i use a trusted coder who is a specialist in security and i pay him by the hour.

I work from home so am around my hardware all the time, i have two internet connections and i don't mind investing in extra hardware and for my coding colleague time without payback. I was lucky enough to have mined some of those first blocks and i have reinvested both BTC and BTC back into AGS.

So my question to you, can i be of assistance or would i just get in the way at this stage?

Thanks guys, appreciate all your input.

I went on holiday and as usual hid my hard drives in various places. Unfortunately i don't remember where i put one of them  :o. Luckily i did remember where the backups were  :).

It might be worth noting that i collect a lot of the top 20 (Market Cap) coins and the PTS wallet was the only one that was hard to find. I know you are all busy, but, even if we miss out on one extra investor it would be a shame.

I've spent 30mins trying to find the latest pts wallet download for windows 32. Can someone help plz?

You can download from here: https://github.com/BitShares/BitShares-PTS/releases
This link was on old version of http://bitshares.org/resources/ags-pts/ now it's disappear.

Thanks testz, can you also confirm that xeroc's link is good? Or xeroc can you confirm testz? sorry to seem distrustful but this is a trustless system :-)
