Title: Solar PV-Bts Brainstorm
Post by: DMo09 on May 07, 2015, 05:49:18 pm
Hello Bts community.

Please help me brainstorm ways to integrate Bts into solar PV.  Any and all ideas are welcome.  Thank you!

maybe more information what you normal do with your clients would be good!

idea 1:

you create an UIA - Solarshares or something else. Your clients can "donor" the PV  project into the UIA and they will get UIA shares for it. I do not know how you can construct it on the legal side, maybe like a holiday resort share piece?

Advantage:

1. the business owner gets an assets he can easily sell if he needs it.
2. all the assets combined will get a much more stable income stream for every asset holder

over time you can create a UIA with multiple real live assets who are backing your UIA and will act as an kind of money.

Hi Dan, welcome!

You could develop and use the knowledge and experience of your consortium to pick viable projects and crowd fund them using individual UIA's.  Assuming your group is successful, you could then issue a UIA representing the value of your consortium.

I think the OP has some kind of smart micro grid in mind and share of excess energy among PV members. Imagine number of houses in area interconnected and constituted microgrid where they could share excess energy. Some would have less or more demand then they produce some would have battery banks etc... So they would probably need some kind of smart trust-less system with market determined price or energy value for exchange. The value would vary according to demand, time of a day, whether conditions and etc...

Very interesting idea. How could Bitshares fit to smart micro-grid.

Btw is this OP idea?

BunkerShares has developed a technology that can be applied to this.

Create a UIA that will be sold at a set rate that will cover infrastructure costs, consulting.. essentially the COGS.

Sell it.. however you like to as a 'voucher' to business owners or whom ever would like to buy 'solar tokens'

The solar token holder can then sell it on the market for however much return they want.

The money that comes in from the grid from the entire infrastructure in USD converts to bitUSD.

The lowest solar tokens get bought up first while the higher priced ones will have to wait.

Each solar holder will compete on their rate of returns and how fast they come with other holders. Those willing to get lower returns and get out faster will get sold faster while those in it for higher returns over a longer period will set a higher rate.

This can all be automated and be transparent with buyers being able to view the buy history through a webwallet explorer that allows them to see/audit everything coming out.

This is what I made that I call SAFE.. Synchronized Asset Futures Engine. It's what will power BunkerShares selling market.

I would run one of these in each incentive market you mentioned.

This gives a start and end to the lifecycle of the asset that will eventually go out of the market. What happens to the money after that? If there is any lifecycle left in it I would suggest that it somehow flows into a pool UIA that would invest in future projects perhaps... or be put towards R&D to further solar efficiencies etc.

I highly recommend picking up 1 billion BunkerShares so that you can experience first hand how SAFE investing works. :)

Hey.. the Bunker is prime for a solar project too... we have several acres of parking lot that could use solar covered shelter.

Note that this would avoid any regulation complications. You are just selling coupons, and holders are redeeming them.

Hope this helped in some way. :)

Well you can already sell your excess energy back to the power company if you have a grid tie inverter.

Hello all,

Thank you for the ideas.  UIA's seem like a good place to start exploring, and could potentially have a competative advantage over other solar crowdfuding companies.

Smart Microgrids are a great idea, but the lower hanging fruit are large single-meter projects located in an incentive market.  I am thinking more about how a DAC can finance/own a project, and reap the financial returns.

Bunkershares-  Solar carports have huge material costs because of additional structure and concrete requirements.  Do you have an unused field?  Looks like Nova Scotia has a solar hot water incentive.  Do you use much hot water?

Dan

I understand the material costs.. we do have an open unused field next to the parking lot.. not to mention the top of the bunker.

As far as use for hot water, that is what is used to heat the bunker through the boiler system. Part of our plans for updates are to retrofit our base load generators to provide building power while providing heating to the building to increase our efficiency.

Is there a way to take hot water and convert to electricity? What would it take to produce approximately 50kw if it's possible at all. Maybe something like this? http://www.gizmag.com/shams-1-concentrated-solar-power-plant/15389/

Eventually, I'd say buy a property and run it like a REIT - kind of an automatic dividend of any owner, something like Mosaic does for solar project funding.

Are you leasing the solar PV or selling them? You could set up UIA that pays a return based on the rate you charge the customers over 5,10,20 years. Are you using the JOBS Act to start company and get investors?
