you can ... and SHOULD .. use "wallet_publish_version" !!!!

Yes otherwise you may accidentally lower your pay rate to 1% haha. :)

Let's try remain to remain civil guys.

Although I must say this.. I just visited Nubits homepage to see what it was all about and I was shocked to see this in large letters.. it is the first thing you see when going to their webpage:

"The World's First Stable Digital Currency"

That is a flat out lie, no? Seeing as though bitUSD has been trading for a while now it seems pretty disrespectful to BitsharesX and bitUSD.

I update version using command:

>>> wallet_publish_version bitcoiners

Works well.

Yes I didn't know about that command until a couple days ago. We need to update the delegate wiki with the newer commands such as price feeds and version publish.

bitsharesblocks.com is on a fork

Yea.. I guess that was it.

It's not your fault, even before the fork for some reason the explorer shows wrong infos about client versions, % of votes etc... I managed to solve it (the last days)  with refreshing the page several times... Had something to do with the cash memory I think... Right now both explorers don't show accurate infos... participation in reality is near 97 %  ;)

Ok thanks. It seems the issue is with the back explorer.. I didn't notice they were on a fork until after I posted this and saw the thread in general discussion.

+1 to fixing bugs before creating new assets. I read somewhere BM suggested we could start opening new markets after this latest update to 0.4.17 so now I am publishing all feeds. I was holding off as per BM's advice to do so. I think now that BM gave us the go ahead new markets will start trading as soon as the feeds and market depth are there.

Oops I just noticed this..

It seems Bitsharesxblocks may be on a fork, which would probably explain the issue: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=9297.0

General Discussion / Update version bug??
« on: September 25, 2014, 01:40:25 am »
Is it just me or is the update version command a little buggy? I was having issues with it the update before last update and somehow updated my pay rate to 1% on accident using the old command...

I didn't know there was a newer and simpler command for it, and that might of been my fault as I didn't realize until a day or two later, but now I'm again having issues with it after today's update to 0.4.17

After today's update I have used all commands as follows multiple times, but with no luck getting it to update on bitsharesblocks.com although it seems like the command executes fine with no errors.

Code: [Select]
wallet_account_update_registration delegate.coinhoarder delegate.coinhoarder { "version":"0.4.17" } 1
wallet_account_update_registration delegate.coinhoarder delegate.coinhoarder { "version":"v0.4.17" } 1
wallet_publish_version delegate.coinhoarder

The info command shows I am running 0.4.17 yet Bitsharesblocks shows I am running 0.4.16

I didn't have any issues until the update before last, and I have about 475 BTSX in my delegate account so it is not an insufficient funds problem. Is there anything glaring I'm doing wrong regarding the syntax of the commands? What is the command to pull the version from the block chain so I can see if maybe it is an issue with bitsharesblocks?

General Discussion / Re: CoinMarketCap Adda BitShares assets

Hi,

Is there any way to view the chart of bitUSD but priced in USD instead of in bitcoins?  I cant tell from this chart how well it has maintained the peg.

Thanks!

Here is one...
https://bter.com/trade/bitusd_usd

Yes, but the trading volume of bitusd on bter is very small, and there are huge spikes on the chart, such as up to $1.50 and down to .70.  I was hoping to see something representing higher volume, and see how closely it held.

I don't think anything like that exists yet, but it is definitely needed. People are using the BTER price as an argument that the market peg is not tracking accurately in some of my debates. Obviously all of the market depth and liquidity is on the decentralized exchange, so we really need something like this to easily track how well the peg is working. I would venture to say it is tracking much better than if you were to only look at the BTER chart and form your opinion.

Haha, good picture. :)

Admittedly I have lost my cool in that thread a few times, but I try to remain calm and cordial. I only get that way with the most stubborn of people. It is one thing to be wrong, and then when someone point it out to you that you are wrong admitting that you were. I am wrong all the time and when people can convince me that I am wrong I will be the first to admit it, it is a part of learning. It's another thing when someone is wrong and refuses to admit or, or at the very least admit you have a point.

Unfortunately, I have ran into a lot of cases of the latter from the Bitcoin crowd. I'm not saying I am 100% right all the time in terms of Bitcoin's problems and Bitshares's solutions, as some of it is based on speculation as to what will happen in the future, but a lot of people refuse to admit that I at least have somewhat of a point even though they might not agree with it. This is what annoys me.

It looks like Coinomat is tanking due to there being decentralized solutions that achieve the goal pretty well (BTSX) and possibly on the news of another decentralized solution.. Nubits.

Either that or its become like a cult where you can't question anything. Many cults have pointless rituals like mining.

Bingo :D
I agree.. I've been debating them non stop for a few days on Bitcointalk and some of them won't budge.

Most think anything that isn't Bitcoin is a scam coin.

Some think that energy has to be consumed in the minting of Bitcoins for them to have any value.

The anarchists seem to really hate DPoS because of the election process.

Some think the exchanges have manipulated the price of PoS coins and this is the only reason for their value.

Others say the rich still get richer because they can vote in delegates controlled by themselves.

A few mentions of DPoS/BitsharesX being like a central bank... we all know how much people hate central banks.

Some think DPoS is subject to social engineering and politics

The point has been made that Delegates likely have less security measures in place and ddos resistance than Bitcoin mining pools.

Some don't understand the need for voting and the reason for only having 101 delegates.

These are some of the most common arguments, and I am not saying they are accurate or I agree with them. Some of the arguments I think I have refuted pretty well, but some just refuse to change their minds no matter what I say.

By the way.. I could use some help in the debate: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=770591.0

Please vote out delegate.coinhoarder and vote in del.coinhoarder

If you are wondering why, please see the above post. If I can't get del.coinhoarder voted in, then please just vote out delegate.coinhoarder

Thanks :)
going to change your entry in my slate in the next update

I appreciate that, thank you.  :D

Big news, this clearly is related to the jump in BTC price.  I doubt it's enough to stimulate a trend reversal.  It could 'buy some time' for the bitcoin price while other developments and hurdles are moved forward with such as the NYDFS bitlisence.  It could easily be back at $400 in a few hours or days, but ya never know.

I speculate this is enough to break Bitcoin out of its downtrend, but that is just speculation and only time will tell. Either way this is big news and I think if Bitcoin rallies, BTSX will benefit from the upswing as well.
