This might not be the only error here, but it seems that recently the upstream LevelDB submodule repo (https://github.com/bitcoin/leveldb) was modified and you may not have it actually checked out in "libraries/leveldb".

edit:
I can't unlock my wallet! Every time I try it it "upgrades" and is automatically repairing key records until the "Segmentation fault" error appears !!!

Do you still have a copy of this wallet? If so can you run it in debugger and get a stack trace of the crash?

Try https://github.com/BitShares/DevShares/blob/master/BUILD_UBUNTU.md

That's weird, I followed the steps in your link, and it worked. Was there something wrong in my old steps?
on the last step (make)
I get this error:

Scanning dependencies of target bts_cli

any suggestions?

(I made like always the same steps   https://github.com/BitShares/DevShares/blob/master/BUILD_UBUNTU.md )

fc now has a submodule so we have nested submodules. Easiest way to sync up submodules is in root project do "git submodule update --init --recursive" as build instructions now say.

Most important thing to test is new user-issued asset features. Other than that, testing of market and GUI is also helpful.

Can i import the note to another account?

This might be easiest if you haven't moved any of NOTES yet and don't care about the usernames in the old wallet.

Start over with a new wallet using latest 0.8 client version. Let it fully sync first, then use faucet to register a new account name. Then import BTC/PTS/AGS keys to the new account name for NOTES.

are you sure i am not going to loose any? my balance is still the same and hasn't moved at all. Is this technically possible?

shall i completely delete all the bitshares files from my system?

If you haven't moved them, they should still be tied to your BTC/PTS/AGS keys and be able to be imported into another account.

Always keep a copy of your "wallets" folder from BTS client data directory and any other backup files just in case. But once those files are safe, you can try a clean install of 0.8 and follow my instructions above.

Hey man,

thank you A LOT!!! I finally got my Notes so i can trade and send those to other accounts. I still think the bitshares client is a pain in the ass and really really annoying.

It works awful and is very laggy.

Nevermind, i would like to send you some notes because of your support :)

Send me your address please.

BTS username is "vikram" . Thanks.

pc is right, the BTS did indeed get paid out correctly into the above balance.

OP looks like you have discovered a previously unknown bug with market payouts in the transaction history. I will take a look at it: https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/issues/1486

Ask Toast--I think he made this command for NOTE distribution. It's possible that current version does not work and needs custom patch.

Gui errors out on trying to import any backup saying "invalid password"  and crashes if you try to export.

Did you ever work this out? Possible by doing a fresh install of 0.5.3 to import the backup, and then upgrading in-place to the latest version?

Hello. I need help. My computer crashed (power failure, I think) and now my Bitshares client and wallet software is locked. It will not accept the correct password and open. I am, without doubt, using the correct password, which worked fine less than 24 hours ago. I wrote down the password when I installed the client software, 0.6.1, I believe.  I also made a wallet backup, a .json file, at the time of installation.

So could someone kindly walk me through the recovery process? Do I assume that the client has become corrupted and un-install the client and then re-install and import the wallet backup? Is this the recovery procedure, or do I need to do something else? As I said, I'm definitely using the correct password...its just no longer accepting it.

I have a significant amount of Bitshares that I recently got back from Bter Exchange, now they are in limbo again....Please advise. Thanks very much for any help.

Until this bug is fixed you can work around this by installing 0.5.3 to import the backup, then upgrade it to 0.7.0.

I may have misunderstood, but if normal login is not working you might also be able to try: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=15163.msg198062#msg198062

Otherwise try wallet backup import as I said above.

you can check your details in the console (advances) using
history
and
balance

.. do you see your funds there?

Thanks for your help. The funds are not there. It looks like the problem is on btsgame.org part. It looks like they well receive the transaction so my wallet did in fact send 1250 BTS(transaction id=2070105) to btsgame account so it is normal that the missing funds ae not in my wallet But still this does not explain the error showing in my client.

I think the JS error should have been fixed in 0.8: https://github.com/BitShares/web_wallet/issues/662

General Discussion / Re: Cannot recover wallet backup
« on: March 30, 2015, 07:40:08 pm »
Hey. I have the same problem. I'm trying to restore a wallet backed up in version 0.4.24, but I get the same error. I am dead sure of the password, which does have special characters (nothing outside of what you can type on your standard english keyboard though. no spaces). I checked and the master key record type structure is correct. Using 0.4.24 doesn't work either, it still gives me the same error.... same with 0.5.3

If the password won't even work on the old versions, it sounds like either your password really is wrong or there is a separate issue from what everyone else in this thread is experiencing.

In any case, I will think about if we can maybe add an option to force the backup to restore even if it thinks the password is wrong.

I'm totally locked out. Tried so many of the versions and all I get is invalid/wrong password. BTW I prefer the 5.0/5.3 splash screens. I don't know for sure but it looks like a malicious individual is the culprit for my password being wrong. Nobody I know personally knew my password, or even what bitshares is, but I found this website video.b1.org up to something. Is there anything I can do?

Are you getting this error on backup import or just trying to login? If you are just trying to login, you might be able to try this workaround: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=15163.msg198062#msg198062
