follow my ass.

That made me chuckle.

Btw is that 30M held in reserve (like Brian's was before), or has it already been given out to Adam to do as he pleases?

General Discussion / Re: Voting on Random topics
« on: April 09, 2015, 03:51:03 pm »
Public polling is going to be very valuable moving forward. Even if by the slight chance governments ban the blockchain in their elections, we still have the potential to use vote internally for bitshares...and even other companies.

Why would governments have to ban the blockchain for their elections, when its so much easier to just ignore it?

General Discussion / Re: Scope for bitassets with high return
« on: April 09, 2015, 02:38:49 pm »
For example the Russian rouble currently has a 14% interest rate - is there any mechanism that would support a 14% interest return on a holding of BitRub?

They can only offer that high interest rate because they can print more Rubles to pay the interest, i.e. like Nubits. BitAssets cant do that, it can only offer interest through services provided, i.e. a free exchange of value.

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares Europe - what can we do?

You shouldnt have to do anything. BitShares is supposed to be a great product that offers a service that people actually want. Once people can trade from the web-based wallet and easily deposit their BTC into it, awareness of this product will spread as easily as sharing a url to wallet.bitshares.org. It shouldnt require people evangelizing on campuses.

Right???

Edit: Helping & spreading word is great, my point was just that products should be good enough to sell themselves.

You should speak your mind more. Silence is taken as conformity here. But being vocal is also the enemy, regardless of intention.

Here, https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,10148.msg132915.html#msg132915 Gentso1 clued in to what was really happening and BM stated the finances were fine even though we got paid delegate dilution because finances were not in fact fine. I agreed with Gentso1.

I also was demanding one sentence why VOTE was all of a sudden some became a "secret sauce" and I never got a response to the question. Only some BS about how voting is corrupt and BM has to try and change it blah blah blah.....VOTE merger was a scam and will alway be a scam. It will never work. DNS had a chain and Toast was the lead developer. BM didn't have to split time with DNS. So this was all about getting VOTE, the DAC least potential to become the reason we needed to give i3 more shares and Adam a huge stake.

Newmine is right in at least that VOTE is never going to work. Its just a fantasy that you can convince governments to move voting systems over to a blockchain that they dont even have a stake in.

Am I the only one outside of the core devs that understands BTS, VOTE and DNS are the holy trinity?

Together these things form and incomprehensibly powerful tool that can change the course of human history.

DNS is not going to work either, at least not as a self-sustaining profitable business.

For blockchain-based DNS to work, browsers need to be integrated with the software to lookup ips from the blockchain. That means getting the likes of Mozilla and Google Chrome on board. Does anyone think they would ever care about anything we have to be incentivized to partner with us? No. In the remote possibility that more than a few geeks started to care about looking up websites from blockchains, Google or Mozilla would just add their own blockchain into their browser. Again they have no stake in BTS either. Even if BTS had a $1 billion market cap they wouldnt care.

Once the core BitAssets take off then yes it might be worth it to add on DNS into BTS later, but this was never going to be a catalyst for large user growth.

Just my opinion.

How did we go from dividends to dilutions?

Add value to Bitshares. Increase revenues. End of discussion.

Its the temporary startup phase hopefully.

Of course multiple rounds of dilution is good for all but the true believers. I guess that means it's time to start buying BitUSD and expect multiple rounds of dilution? Then again will BitUSD even hold to the peg with such low liquidity? Expect a market cap of $6 million or possibly less if they go ahead with this at this time.

Agreed - we cant sustain more large rounds.

At this point developers need to focus on adding value and not on getting rich. It requires sacrifice from everyone to make a startup into a success.

Yes but the developers are sacrificing their time, and we are sacrificing by accepting dilution, but hopefully not too much.

In hindsight yes this thread's title is horrible. At this price isnt everyone who is still hear a true believer anyway?

But when I heard that statement about multiple rounds of funding in the mumble it was made to sound so normal that it might have been the plan all along. Not that Im complaining it just taught me that I need to think more strategically about when to buy BTS, because everything is open to change.

Yes it would be better overall for a big investor to just buy existing BTS, assuming they are satisfied at getting it at market rate.

General Discussion / Dilution / sharedrop discussion
« on: April 08, 2015, 07:28:23 am »
Due to how low the share price has gotten, there's been speculation recently that core developers who arent being paid a living wage are getting desperate.

One idea that was thrown around recently was to get VC money. I remember in one of the mumbles BM said "Real companies go through repeated rounds of funding". If this or something similar were to happen, who thinks that we could see another sharedrop to bring the total to 3 billion?

On a side-question, is VC money even possible for a non-legal entity? Would they want to wait for profitability first?

I dont expect anyone from the team to answer these questions, its purely one of those "lets try and speculate what happens next" threads. It affects whether Ill double down now or wait for a bit.

General Discussion / Re: Light Wallet Beta Release
« on: April 07, 2015, 07:16:00 pm »
I compiled the qt light wallet,  how to deploy the web service like wallet.bitshares.org? is there any guide document, thanks.

The Qt wallet is not designed to be deployed as a web service. The original one is thats why it was based on web tech like coffeescript.

I wish you would all stop hyping Moonstone so much, yes the promo video looks nice but what we really know about it is next to nothing. Do keep in mind that Bitsapphire, like I3, have a habit of over-promising, so it may not be the silver bullet that will fire Bitshares to the moon and turn water into wine...

+5% The only silver bullet that I have any hope for is the web-based wallet. Once its really polished and shows some trading volume, it should attract lots more users.

Looks great, but that buy & sell wall feels squashed (and too tall) being beside the buy & sell orderbook lists. Bter put the wall graphic underneath the lists and it feels more natural: https://bter.com/trade/bts_btc

I think he wants to know how to prove that he made a payment to someone, given that TITAN's stealth addresses arent visible on that explorer. There is a console command to do it, I just dont remember what it is. I bet xeroc knows.
