I work every day from 8:30AM to 7PM along with 5 other developers to make BTS a success and that is just the developers.

No one has more to lose from BTS failing than me and when people like wings are upset because they gave money to support a vision that is harder than they thought to achieve.

If this were a "pump and dump" as wings has claimed then I would have sold when we hit $100M rather than held.

I am not going to give up and continue to fight and learn.

Thanks Bytemaster I for one never doubted the effort that youre putting into this project. Youre probably getting some really whinny PMs right now from get-rich-quick slackers. Chin up!

But Im sure Bytemaster was smart enough to go at least 50% BitUSD when we hit $100M. That would have been perfectly acceptable and I hope he did :)

Thanks Ben, but can you elaborate on where the synergies are regarding voting?

For example here is a dis-synergy: When BitShares has prediction markets people will start to use it for things like predicting when the president kicks the bucket. How will that go down well with Californian voting officials who are employing that same blockchain for voting services?

Blockchains are basically about anarchy (at least till now).

Everything Ive seen has shown BM is committed to creating value. These allegations of dumping are unfounded. I just have doubts about the direction of the project.
As far as  i can see,he didn't submit any commits since Mar 14.
https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/commits/devshares?author=bytemaster

At this point hes more of a manager than a coder. Hes meeting people behind the scenes.

I still dont see how Vote is going to increase demand for BitShares.

With BitAssets its clear - 1 BitUSD requires $3 of BTS. How does Vote compare to that value proposition?

People use cryptocurrency because they want to break free of control systems like banks and governments etc. Given thats true its a colossal waste of time to pitch blockchain solutions to California voting officials.

Vote to me will always be the epitome of BitShares' lack of focus. What was that number again - 30million BTS? I thought Ethereum was supposed to be the project that tries to do everything.

But hey what do i know.

If I had known that the merger was going to bring on so much Vote baggage I would have gone 100% BitUSD back then.

General Discussion / Re: Target driven marketing and PR
« on: March 24, 2015, 12:39:32 am »
I think marketing is overrated and generally ineffective. Anytime we try to promote ourselves to anyone able to understand crypto, we get buried as "just another altcoin".

Also getting people in Argentina/Venezuela to save in BitUSD will take years.

IMO to really establish a userbase we need to have an orderbook like this: http://bfxdata.com/orderbooks/btcusd.php BitShares will soon be able to do anything Bitfinex does, they are massively successful without any marketing.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [ANN] Marketing.Methodx Reboot
« on: March 22, 2015, 09:20:09 pm »
I am open to opinions on which pairs to support. The list in the OP was just a stake in the ground. As funds build all the MPA pairs will be supported.

Thanks Riverhead.

Well my opinion is that for the internal markets, nothing else matters. If a bitcoiner sees a chart of bitUSD:BTS he will ask "why should I care?" A BitBTC:BitUSD market with a fat orderbook will make him ask "why do i have my money at risk on bitstamp?"

The BitUSD:BTS market is for people who are already excited about our system, and there seems to be volume there already.

Edit: Ah I just noticed that Yunbi switched their BTC:BitUSD market which is good. I think more MM there would be good too.

5:30 - BitUSD is great, DACs not so. If only he was still onboard and we had listened to him. Then our core value proposition could have been much further ahead and usable by now.

Why is the internal market BitBTC:BitUSD not a priority (why is it not in your list)? Ill vote for you if you use the funds to do MM 50% on BitBTC:BitUSD and 50% on BitBTC:BitCNY. Those markets are finally being added to the exchange frontpage soon. Then we can finally share this link around: https://wallet.bitshares.org/#/market/BitBTC:BitUSD/Guest/buy

We will never attract users unless we can let them trade Bitcoin vs dollars.

Technical Support / Re: I Want to Add a Trollbox to the Web Wallet
« on: March 21, 2015, 11:40:45 pm »
From my limited knowledge wouldnt the saved IRC settings be stored in the same place the web-based wallet stores its brain-wallet password & settings, i.e. in cookies.

Im not sure what the equivalent to that is in the qt-wallet. But getting a trollbox working on wallet.bitshares.org first would be a good start.

I definitely think you should message Valentine & jcalfee to get agreement on this before you start working on it.

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares vs Bitcoin Locks
« on: March 21, 2015, 04:04:53 pm »
This cant happen with BitShares market pegged assets:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2zf11j/coinapult_150_btc_hack_report/
https://coinreport.net/coinapult-loses-43k-hot-wallet-compromise/

With BitAssets you hold your private keys 100% of the time, and the assets are collateralized by the blockchain so it cant be hacked.

But of course if you asked Eric Voorhees he would say "ill lock your money for you, BitShares is just an altcoin"

Can it show the entire chart history, along with async loading to zoom in via dragging the mouse?

Highcharts supports this: http://www.highcharts.com/stock/demo/lazy-loading

General Discussion / Re: BitUSD: BitBTC market?[Solved]
« on: March 21, 2015, 02:52:28 pm »
I did.... and why not?  It seems to me that this is THE biggest marketing feature to bring newcomers to BitShares.  Crazy.  "Ditch the shady exchange, trade USD and BTC without any trusted third parties on the blockchain".  Seriously.

Youre absolutely right. I wrote a massive post about this a few days ago. And since then Im glad to say the problem is being fixed right now. svk has put in a great fix on the newlayout_market branch that adds the following to the front page:

BitBTC:BitUSD
BitBTC:BitCNY
BitUSD:BitCNY

Great choices svk! This will also be really positive for our chinese users.
