Title: Getting paid shares.
Post by: NineLives on October 04, 2014, 07:26:26 pm
Hi guys,

Curious and I never really asked but, how do we get paid shares / div from the AGS / PTS investments?

BTSX have been claimed a while back into my wallet so I assume div or shares will just get paid in there?  Or am I being thick and missing something?

Ta a bunch..

You don't get paid dividends explicitly. Instead, a part of the shares (tx fees) is destroyed in each block. Effectively, this means that your share of the DAC is growing bigger with each block.

OK, so, I want to sell my shares one day or I want to cash in?  (yes I'm still lost in understanding how my shares work).

In what forum do I see these shares?

The amount of shares you have in the BTSX DAC is the amount of BTSX you own. If you own 1 BTSX then that means your "share" of the BTSX DAC is 1/2,000,000,000.

However, because BTSX is deflationary due to the ability of delegates to burn a percentage of their pay this means they are destroying BTSX and your "share" of the DAC is always going up. So that 1/2,000,000,000 would now be ~1/1,999,969,829 due to the amount of BTSX that have currently been burned so far.

If you wish to cash in then you would sell your BTSX on an exchange or to a friend etc just as you would sell an amount of Bitcoins.

OK got it,

However,  I just decided to invest in PTS for more shares in the MUSIC DAC.  After the snapshot, how do I see my shares in that?

There will be a genesis stake published just like they did for KeyID here:

You can search for your public address to see what your allocation is.  To claim it, you will probably have to import your private key into the Music client.

Is there a Music client?

Or other clients I need to have?

Not yet. These will come out some time in the future.
