I had this issue and I ended up deleting the whole bitshares roaming file (save your .json wallet first if u have anything in it) and then reinstall fresh. Also be sure to run .exe as admin (if using windows). Firewalls and anti-virus programs are also big culprits hindering a smooth usage, so u may want to check into that also. I temporarily  turned off both my firewall and anti-virus when reinstalling and it went along very smooth, even after turning those back on after I got wallet up and running. I'm on a Win8.1, AMD cpu w/8gb Ram.
You mentioned "wallet.dat"? Is this for the PTS wallet? If so, here is a link to a PTS import thread...

I would take advantage of the built in referral in Graphene, unless you feel that could be a conflict of interest or morally unjust?
Of course there's the Worker and Delegate side of the block chain to get income and use for the front end (PeerTracks). I'd assume that is already being considered?!!!

I agree with keeping this an Ad-free streaming service, if at all possible.

Here is my suggestion...

One source of recurring income could come from artists bidding for a weekly "bonus/featured play"  during the listeners time, within the same genre that the listener selected/created to listen to.
Maybe give the artist's an option to bid on their main genre and on another that's "one arms length" away.
What I mean by  "one arm's length"  is if it's "Alternative"  the artist has selected for their Main Genre, then another genre that's similar (but different) to "Alternative" would/could be "Hard Rock" or "Indie" or "Punk" or what ever the categories may be?
So if the artist selects their main genre as  "Alternative" when they first sign up and they want to get quicker attention on their "new song" they've uploaded; they bid for that "bonus" spot of that week and that money goes directly to Peertracks.
They could also place a second/concurrent bid on another genre for that same week which is "one arm's length".

Peertracks could then cycle in the winning "bonus play" every hour or 1/2hr of the clients streaming.

You could even go 3 winning bids deep and stream those as a group... so if someone is streaming and it comes time for the "bonus" play to trigger ( or have the trigger set to when the client is first opened) you would first play the #1 winner, then the #2 winner, then the #3 winner and then stream back to the regular user selection.

Just an idea  :P

Ps- the other ideas RE: the artist, producers, studio and talent managers using and joining a "paid community" is an awesome idea in-lieu of this!!

Or, everyone could just put a link in their mumble comment that opens up the BTS client to their account name (like ours does). ;)

Note: To work, this would require the person doing the clicking to be using Windoze (or Mac I assume) as kencode reports the links will not work under linux mint (but I suspect that they would with a little adjustment).

or this ^^^^  ;D

So it would be a similiar approach to what radio shows do. Sort of like a word of the day. Would a text to speech algo be able to manipulate this? Maybe a category of the day, (red, yellow, green) colors. It would have to be manually checked as there would be possibilities for different answers.
Also is it too late to ask for Brownie points for the previous mumble. I was in the chat log, but it looks like I got left out. Thanks

Color of the day! I like this approach!  +5%
Very easy and effective.

I'm not familiar with how color categories or color of the day is used on radio, could someone explain that mechanic so I can figure out if and how I would implement that in mumble.

It would be fairly simple...
Near or,  at the end of a Hangout,  Fuzzy could say "Ok everyone...today's color for Dan's hangout will be "electro orange". Then everyone in attendance would type in that color (and only that color, no other BS!) name into the Mumble chat. So now you got a quick, verifiable list of attendees and you could then use that chat transcript to dole out the appropriate Brownie.pts
Quick and effective!
Also,  if there's another hangout right after Dan's,  you'd change the color for that specific hangout with something different like "puke purple" and take a Mumble chat box snapshot once again with that color.

Now, the other issue you guys bringing up about Mumble user name is different from wallet name...
IF you decide to do "color of the day" and IF you use Mumble chat box like I described, then I would think best way is to have everyone type in their designated wallet name AFTER typing the color. That would help with some semblance of normalcy I would think?

The other option is to have a "Color of the Day" filed on the BB.org website that attendees could go to?!
Just have a "wallet name" field and a "color of the day" field... click submit and done, but there's obviously way to many possibility's to scam and spam this route.

I think Mumble chat "wins" in this regards!!
 :P

Hello everyone!
Just wanted to swing in and say thank u again for providing this awesome service! It's ultra convenient being able to send from coinbase to my BTS wallet while taking only a few minutes to complete the whole transaction (from coinbase log in to BTS wallet balance getting updated).
Keep up the great work!

I'm deleting this post because I find it hard to state my opinion without negativity emanating from every key I press. That isn't good for the project.

We wouldn't want to ruin the poetic circle jerk forming in this thread would we?

You guys do realize the origin of brownie points is from brown nosing.

Incorrect. I assumed from brownies the kid's organization for girls but even that doesn't seem correct.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brownie_points

I've been keeping my mouth shut and watching instead of asking for some (never have been one to ask for things--I prefer to be gifted).  But to those who are here giving me credit thank you.

Please never forget those like JoeyD and Gamey who were here from the beginning helping edit and give transcripts.  Also aj, riverhead, jabba, clains, testz, cass and tuckfheman who are all joining the beyond bitcoin movement.  And of course people like Thom who join us nearly every mumble session and are basically a part of this movement by their actions if not their labeling.

As far as this idea goes...I like it as both a social experiment and a means of trying to create what some might call a circle jerk while others would say it is a person's choice to give tokens with the potential of having them become valuable.

Maybe it is up to us to make them valuable in our own way?

Cheers to Fuzz!!!!
GO FUZZ GO!!!!!

On a side note, I've notice there's been more suggestions for wording since the flyer was posted.

It's great reading this thread. It goes to show just how much this community cares about this projects succsess and the efforts that are put in behind the scenes that are taken for granted.

Here is what I've done to help with what/when I can....

* Mined PTS, Donated into AGS and gave any constructive critisism here on the forums.

* Made the BitShares Tri-Fold Brochure for community distribution. These are still being used today as far as I know...
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,15169.0.html

* Currently working on this flyer for Greece crisis handouts for mf-tzo...

* Created and Maintianed this DEV chat thread up until Beyond Bitcoin created it's website...
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,10616.0.html

and here at Bitcointalk forum...
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=861047.msg10531495#msg10531495

* Editing and Release the weekly Beyond Bitcoin Hangouts (DEV, DELEGATE and BONUS).
This takes the bulk of my time. It easily takes 4-8hrs to edit each 1hr hangout (depending on peoples mic quality).
I've currently been working on the new Intro music/voice production for these recordings.
I've been doing this since last year.
So I'll let you do the math for hours I've spent :)
https://beyondbitcoin.org

* I've also been working on some other projects for print and educational. With the 2.0 announcement, these have been put on hold until final 2.0 info rolls out or at least more concrete.

Thanks Dan for doing this!!!

btw, if you run out of BROWNIE.PTS to hand out, I'll gladly take POT.BROWNIE in lieu of  :P

General Discussion / Re: Missing opportunity for BTS
« on: June 29, 2015, 02:52:59 am »
I'll add a bit more tidbit to this discussion...
I was looking at the Soundcloud stats for the Beyond Bitcoin Hangouts just now and during this past week the "plays" from Europe have a notable increase from the usual activity.
The U.S. is still first place as far as "plays" go. Spain is second place (usually ranked 10-15th place), France, Germany and Australia are all among the top 5.
Canada and UK are coming in 6th and 7th rank.

These numbers include various recent Hangouts from the DEV and BONUS recordings.

General Discussion / Re: Poll: Community perception of Cryptonomex
« on: June 24, 2015, 10:01:58 pm »
This is great poll to start up and get some community feedback. But IMO #2 and #4 are one in the same, both questions boil down to Cryptonomex abandoning BTS and leaving it's holders out to dry.
With that in perspective, totaling both #2 & #4 is out numbering poll option #1 "the positive sentiment" of Crytonomex.

IMO it's seems more than half (at this point in time) of the community is afraid of the unknowns Re: Cyptonomex true intentions.

my two BTS  :-\
