General Discussion / Re: BitUSD Market Discussion

Seems to be tracking the real dollar value very nicely. Now i am thinking  what's the point of having bitcoins? I can use bitshares x  as a deflationary currency and bitUSD for day to day transactions.

Can someone please provide a download link for a linux binary that you have compiled yourself. I have an older compiler on my distro and don't want to go through dependency issues right now.

You don't always need 200% collateral. If someone has shorted bitUSD into existence you can buy it off them outright and then it's a balance in your account like BTSX that you can spend like normal.

But how will using bitUSD work in the real world for buying goods and services?

General Discussion / Sending bitAssets to another person?
« on: August 22, 2014, 12:46:46 pm »
Hi, i'm still learning about bitshares and i am confused about how anyone could send bitAssets to another account. So if i want bitUSD i would need to own btsx that is worth 200% the value of the bitUSD and use it as collateral. So now i have bitUSD backed by my btsx, what if i want to send bitUSD to another person? is this possible? would my collateral remain 200% of my original bitUSD amount. How would this work?

What is the frequency in which interest is paid to bitUSD holders?

The jump is most likely because testnet1 phase has started. There are weekly dev updates on maidsafe.org

Thanks for the link, I get it now.

So there is no main bitshares blockchain, there are many blockchains representing different DACS.

General Discussion / How are bitshares distributed

Hi,
Can someone tell me how the actual crypto-currency bitshares will be distributed. It seems to be being developed with alot of features that give it actual advantages over bitcoin, i am wondering how its distributed. This forum and the way bitshares works has not been well defined and i think alot of people find bitshares the most confusing crypto of all time.

Thanks for the reply, looks like i'm not going to invest, unless someone convinces me otherwise. Is there any other projects within the bitshares eco-system that you think will be HUGE?

Thinking about getting some AGS, but only because i am interested in the bank and nothing else interests me. So how do i get a share in the bitshares bank?

Thanks.

Emunie is not a bank .. you cannot short an asset afaik

What does shorting assets add to an economy?

Seems like game for traders to make money.
