Technical Support / Re: OpenLedger Account gone/no backup, help?
« on: August 24, 2016, 10:06:25 pm »
write down the private key is the best way to recover your wallet.
I have backup .bin file, but still failed to restore as well.  all my bitshares gone in openledger.
How did it fail to restore? If you used Firefox there's a bug there, just use chrome for now.

Same story here. Unlocking/restoring from backup does not work in Firefox under ubuntu, but works without problem in Chrome. I like Firefox, what happened with it?

I looked into this more today and turns out it was a regression in Firefox that was solved by updating the buffer library so I was able to fix it finally. Next release will once again have support for Firefox.

That part of the wallet has changed. Go to settings - restore backup. Select bitshares 0.9 backup in the drop down menu.

Technical Support / Re: Can't access my account - please help

Hi,

I've just recovered my account, but I can't access it, it says I don't have the private keys or something like that.... Here are some pictures:

Thanks.

Strange. My first guess is that the transaction is not being signed properly due to an API issue or something in the library. What you're trying to do is add an account to the owner authorities? Are you able to see the owner key by clicking on the little key symbol next to your public key?

Just tried on OSX with Firefox v47 and was able to restore a backup from April with no issues. I then upgraded to v48 and using the same backup file I get the "invalid format" error.

From what I can tell from the console errors it seems this Firefox update has broken the crypto libraries, so it will no longer support the wallet period. Those libraries are outside of my control and no longer actively maintained afaik, the last update was in January.

If you insist on using Firefox you will have to revert to v47.

This is sad. This makes unusable public/working devices where you can't install software.

Do you really want to use those kinds of devices for your Bitshares wallet? I certainly wouldn't..

I can have a look to see if there's an issue with Firefox, but the GUI is only fully tested in Chrome so that's what I recommend using.

Price feeds are defined with respect to BTS, but you could use the feed for BTC to convert the others to be with respect to BTC.

If that's how it's done internally (in the DEX), then for sure that's what should be replicated to obtain the correct price feeds (in bitsquare).

If I understood you correctly, the (for instance) bitNZD:bitBTC price feed "goes through" BTS/BTC ?
There is no bitNZD:bitBTC feed, feeds are only defined relative to the backing asset of the smartcoin, which for most coins is BTS.

The conversion process I described is only used in the wallet to calculate the equivalent values shown in the account page and dashboard.

Yes you can import the json file and recover your accounts that way, but the wallet does require a decent internet connection to function properly as you've noticed.

NOTE is now on a different chain and is called MUSE.

That seems to be the best solution imo.

On the exchange page you can invert the whole market to have prices in the direction you prefer. It doesn't make sense to allow you to invert prices individually there.

I don't understand what the issue is. All active smart coins have price feeds, if they don't then bitsquare should not allow trading them.

Technical Support / Re: cannot login
« on: August 12, 2016, 02:52:39 pm »
Hi there,

I try to login to my bitshares.openledger.info account from the PC on which I created this account and successfully accessed it earlier.  I just see the endless 3 loading circles, see the printscreen. Unfortunately I dont have a backup file:

How to fix it?

Naok

Most likely cause of this is that your computer clock is out of sync, try syncing it with an NTP server.

General Discussion / Re: The connection of bitshares and steem
« on: August 09, 2016, 09:45:24 am »
Welcome back Bitsharesrussia.

A lot has changed in the last two years! Especially with BitShares. Daniel has stopped the core development of the Bitshares platform and is now developing steem fulltime.  Steem is like BitShares build based on the Graphene toolkit, beside that the two platforms are not related or integrated.

Steem has ambiguous planes, building a new social network and a new eBay is just one of them. We have to see which role the BitShares DEX will play in all of that. Since Steem will introduce new currencies next to Steem Dollar, we have to see that Bitshares is not left behind. At the moment Steem does not have the UIA module installed, so you cannot create our own currencies and tokens on Steem yet.... Who knows maybe that will come too?

BitShares will grow as a decentralized exchange for all kind of assets, maybe even as marketplace between all crypto assets... However, that is still a long way to go. We need everybody's help to get there.

I'm sure you meant "Steem has ambitious plans", other than that I fully agree ;)

The most likely reason is that he deleted his old wallet and created a new one with a different password. @bacchist can you try importing your backup to Openledger using Chrome?
