In that case, why would someone spend the time and efforts to create a smartcoin if there is no economical incventives ? Pure altruisme is not the strong suit of human beeing ...

Did I understand it well ?

You can for sure set and collect a trading fee of any smart coin you create. So there is an incentive. Take a look at this private smart coin - TCNY http://cryptofresh.com/a/TCNY. There is a field "Market fee" it is 0% in this case, but you can set it to anything say 0.2% and collect 0.2% on each trade for you smart coin.
Some money can be made by setting the core exchange rate for the coin, too

General Discussion / Re: Subsidizing Market Liquidity
« on: March 17, 2016, 07:09:32 pm »

There's been 12 pages of discussion, it would be nice if someone could sum it up in a single clean document so that it can be easily digested by more people. Even if it was literally just copy-and-paste snippets of notable points.

I saw some important variables were identified (length of time on the books, distance/spread, etc), but have any *reward equations* been proposed? This is the hardest & most important part. What variables do we measure and how do we combine them into a single score.

My response to earlier xeroc's post is pretty close to a pseudo code... reposting will not help reducing the pages from 12...quite the opposite. [feel free to put in better English, if you see a need to do so]
Others have suggested additions which are generally cool and good, but from my point of view they needlessly complicate the algo for little bit of fine tuning.

you can direct your calls to OL for now.

as for 'longterm expectation of being available'?
my personal take is - they will be around for another 3-6mo. at least.

PS
but then again..do not start right now...last I heard OL's server is overheating as it is .

Just a heads up to anyone else that rage quits the forum.

From my testing this appears to be the case, if it's not I'd be welcome to hear why it's not accurate with something other than the usual, "FUD", "drama", "slow clap" responses given to those testing the bot.  :-\

  • If you have funds in ShareBits from tips or otherwise you will not be able to withdraw your funds after rage quitting.* So withdraw before rage quitting. ;)
  • If you don't withdraw your funds before rage quitting, someone else can recreate your account on the forum and take all of your funds via tips.
  • You can recover your funds by recreating your forum account under the same name and transferring the coins to another account you control via tips.

* The bot, at least regarding withdrawals, is tied to the userid # associated with your forum account afaict. So recreating your account under the same name later will not grant you withdraw permissions, because you won't receive a withdrawal code private message. Someone else who recreates your account under the same name can withdraw your funds by tipping another forum account they control.

Also for those unaware, you can tip like this on Twitter ...

those were one very confusing instructions on 'rage quiting'...

Absolutely .. the problem is that there are so many things moving and it is next to impossible to get the big picture of what those that discussed in the threads have agreed upon ..
If you put that into a few paragraphs ... we can get this into a nicely formated BSIP quickly!

absolutely...take it behind closed doors and discus it between 15 other people who have been to busy to read the thread.

if a single witness fed in a very wrong price couldn't that trigger margin calls / forced settlement?

sure, at the right time at the right place...they can.
3-4 of them colluding can make a party out of it... and one will never be able to prove it...
as a matter of fact I believe they already do that... and nobody cares. [I will look for the link where I posted it, if interested*]

*Generally there was a settlement order  1. they lowered the settlement price 2. Placed a new position with the least collateral ratio(3 sec after the new price got into effect). 3. the order in (2) got filled 4. They published a new higher price feed 5.The next order with the lowest collateral got called 5.they sold into it at 10% above their new feed price...

if a single witness fed in a very wrong price couldn't that trigger margin calls / forced settlement?

No. bts takes the median of all witnesses' feeds.

what is you point? The newly  published price for sure can change the median price.... obviously.

...which player is that? The closest I see to 28 mil right now are Dash and Doge.

look closer!
and  I mean literally.

The riddle goes " "If you sometimes run in front of a running back, and you wear number 7, you just bought at ~48Mil USD market cap"

Did we actually reach 28M marketcap?

if by 'we' you mean did 'BTS' reach 28Mil USD market cap?...no.
I was talking about another crypto player... connected to BTS in more ways than one 3, though...

Someone is dumping

Well, 15M shares can't be dumped at once so it might take a while. Plus the blog post hasnt come out yet and ethereum is being hyped again so it kind of stole the attention we were getting.

35M actually but

I cannot make up my mind which is more disturbing/disgusting:

-selling at this ridiculously low price to secure ~10 mo. of  some resemblance of development...just cause no-one is actually willing to invest in you, even at that funny low price.

-faking 28Mil market cap [by moving shares around between 'founders']

all in all, a pretty low point in crypto anyway.

PS
the irony is of course those 2 tactics are more or less complete opposite of each other... yet I have hard time deciding which one I dislike more.

50%  IOU.USD 50%bitAssets

The bitassets are shorted by them themself and given to the customers, the 50% IOU.USD kind of offsets the 200% collateral required.

OP-er. Wrong!

This is a view that somehow the dex is not the real world, not the real market. And it is a real market like all other markets. It might be small now but it does not have to be, it can be as big or bigger than any exchange. This believe is similar to the believe that New York SE needs other exchanges so its trade or prices are legit and real...

Additionally  the on-dex price "feeds" provide much better solution than the current system in all respects, including to the somewhat funny current forced liquidation rules.
