* The main network is in "quiet" / "proto-DAC" mode to trade shares and push keyID signups.
* I will be taking care of all backpay in the next few days - up until now I had "spent" somewhere between 5% and 10% of the dev fund as IOUs (including a sale of 1% of the DAC for seed capital which I have some stuff) - more on this accounting and plans for dev funds later. There won't be any more spending without another announcement.
* I am already working with two exchanges on integration
* We will have continuous dry runs for the name auction and reputation scheme experiments.
* Domain sales will not being before DNS is trading and has a price.
* Watch out for bounties and special delegate roles.
* 1% pay rate ($8/day or so at $5mn valuation) seats are being given out to "good" delegates (people who have been building stuff and have been active). For example, who wants to build the windows client?

wow, that was fast. Are you looking for people to register as potential delegates?

Mine too. I see this when it starts:

I'm willing to set up a delegate, do we know if the process is the same as btsx?
-
Looking for delegates... you can either set your pay rate to 0 or demonstrate some other value for a pay rate of 1.

0 or 1 ?
-
0% or 1%
-
If you need delegates I'll run a 0 node on my home PC.
Can you increase pay? I could always build the windows binaries, but I wouldn't be able to release until tomorrow. I have to work in three hours, and I would need to pull an old windows mining rig out first.
-
You can't increase pay and also there are no subnames. Use throwaway names.
-
This maybe a dumb question, but how to we claim our genesis names? Or should we be waiting on that :)

This maybe a dumb question, but how to we claim our genesis names? Or should we be waiting on that :)
You can access the legacy gui for shared features with BTSX, which includes importing keys
CLI is still the recommended way to do things

Ok, I'll try to get one up tomorrow, unfortunately I have a busy evening.

I can't make a delegate....
I tried on the linux gui also but it is not possible even I have 1 DNS available....
No error...
After I click on 'ok' on the confirmation window, nothing happens !!!
Are you sure?
This will update your account's private and public info, need to pay fee 0.5 DNS, update account to a delegate costs extra 0.14136 DNS

You should reduce your payrate though, this is using the inflation based delegate pay model, so 100% is unacceptable. 1% is what everyone else is using, it gives about 10DNS per block.

Oh and your delegate is using 100% payrate, it's too high for inflation based pay.

I might find a bug. Pay rate cannot be changed.
That is not a bug. Pay can be lowered but not raised. If you're at 0% and want to be 1% you need to create a new delegate. It works this way in BitSharesX as well.
-

Lol. I'm at work now, need to push some corrections from the BTSX side over to DNS then make sure everything looks ok, but should definitely be live later today.

Interesting. From the CLI check out wallet_account_update_registration, the last parameter is delegate_pay_rate.

1% is NOT what EVERYONE else is doing. Based on Toast post my understanding was that most everyone would use 0% and only those who were actively working with him to build it would get 1%.
Maybe TOAST can clarify.

You should reduce your payrate though, this is using the inflation based delegate pay model, so 100% is unacceptable. 1% is what everyone else is using, it gives about 10DNS per block.

Are DNS keys deterministic like in BitSharesX? I'm assuming so since it's using the same toolkit but just want to be sure so I can plan my backup strategy.
-
I might find a bug. Pay rate cannot be changed.
That is not a bug. Pay can be lowered but not raised. If you're at 0% and want to be 1% you need to create a new delegate. It works this way in BitSharesX as well.
It is. I tried to decrease pay rate but did not work in GUI.
Do you know how to do this in CLI?
Interesting. From the CLI check out wallet_account_update_registration, the last parameter is delegate_pay_rate.
CLI works. GUI obviously has a bug. Thank!
I had the same problem.
The gui tries to register the account again instead of updating it....
It worked for me also only on cli with the command "update_registration" (instead of register_account)

Yea I experienced this also when upgrading my delegate from v0.0.1 to v0.0.2. With two clients running the new client would fail to sync, upon closing the old client then restarting the new one I immediately got synced up. Was the exact same behaviour I was seeing before issue 794 got fixed.

Is this expected?

Parameters:
wallet_filename (filename, required): the Bitcoin/PTS wallet file path
passphrase (passphrase, required): the imported wallet's password
account_name (account_name, required): the account to receive the contents of the wallet

Linux packages available at http://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=home%3Ap_conrad%3Abts&package=KeyID (CentOS 7, Fedora-20, openSUSE >= 12.3). CLI only ATM, gui currently fails to compile.
@toast: please set version tag on the keyid-gui + qt_wallet submodules too. That would make it easier to create reproducible builds.

With a 5bn coin supply a certain percentage was set aside for dev/delegate pay. My thinking is that this means delegates that set their fee to 1% need to be actively adding value over and above just producing blocks as they deplete this fund.
Am I wrong in this understanding? We either have a lot of people setting 1% because they can or we have a lot of people willing to expend some elbow grease to make DNS a success. Probably a mixture of both.

I got the same question. I tried "File -> Import Wallet" but it fails with:
Failed to restore wallet backup. Your original wallet has been restored. Error: Assert Exception (10)
base58str.substr( 0, prefix_len ) == BTS_ADDRESS_PREFIX:
I also tried "wallet_backup_restore" from the CLI but the error message I get there is pretty much the same. Copying over the "wallets" directory from BitSharesX didn't help either (I could start KeyID as usual but it still didn't show any registered account).

Was planning to use my BTSX account name but I changed my mind and ended up creating a new account name for my DNS wallet. After creating my new account name for the DNS wallet, then I tried to import my PTS wallet private keys. After numerous tries, I was able to claim my share of DNS by importing my PTS wallet private keys by doing the above. I checked my new DNS wallet and I saw that it was successful. The DNS share balance that represented the amount of PTS that I held on the 8-21-2014 snapshot did show up in my DNS wallet. Thanks for sharing how to do this.

Did you already create a wallet and password for your keyid wallet? It works similar to BTSX in that you need to setup a password to protect it.
To create a wallet:
wallet_create mywallet
<enter password>
<confirm password>
If you already created a wallet use the following:
open mywallet
unlock 999999
<enter password>
Then try again

Just downloaded 0.0.2 version of KeyID.
I was successfully able to import my Bitshares-PTS wallet.dat using the 'Legacy GUI', however; I have not been able to import my AGS from a multibit wallet.
I tried importing the *.wallet file and it said it succeeded but my balance did not change. I then tried importing the private key directly and it also said success but still my balance did not change.
It worked for me in Bitshares-X and shows my Bitcoin (multibit) address from the genesis block in the transaction.
Please and thanks for the help!
*EDIT: Ok sorry I just saw the allocation update thread. So just to confirm, AGS were not honored for Bitshares-DNS?*

Check for your address balance here: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/keyid/keyid/e2bb322fd63e44a58fcef4aa464ddaca557f1b55/libraries/blockchain/genesis_keyid.json

Check for your address balance here: *omitted*
Hmm, I see my bitcoin address there:
[
"1D7AaeuddeRgaKvrgLbvCAFMnikmDu7sdY",

],
Has anyone successfully imported AGS from a multibit wallet?

I have a wallet running and this goes from 8 minutes to 3 minutes to 14 minutes.. it takes some time to cycle through the #s.. it isn't a real fast process.

Everything is fine here ... it just states that IN THE CURRENT ROUND you already produced a block ..
you need to wait for the end of the round to figure out which spot you will take in the NEXT round .. which is at least 14 minutes in the future ..
every round takes about 16 minutes ..

I think I am confused because it was oscillating rapidly at one point as I typed in info. Oh well, I was tired last night. I realize now it is a silly question. blockchain_round... is exactly like desribed. :o
