General Discussion / Re: Marketing Bounties to Spread Awareness
« on: February 09, 2014, 04:47:02 pm »
For some reason I see a ton of stuff about Ethereum wherever I go, but I don't see much about BTS, PTS, or AGS. This is a complete injustice to the work being done by Invictus and this community at large.

What if we established a Marketing Bounty program to help drive marketing, awareness, and adoption? If we can reward bounties to people for writing blogs, podcasts, Facebook pages, or articles, then include small bounties for people to share or post to major social media platforms, we can spread the message far and wide. We will have to reach a consensus in the community of message that we want to put forth, that way we can have some sort of impact on the narrative.

This community has some brilliant concepts with extremely talented devs, but we haven't even scratched the surface of what is capable. People need to know that this community exists, and if we don't market the concepts we could all potentially lose out in the end.

Marketing an idea is more important than the idea itself in many ways. Everyone should know what you guys are doing here.

The problem we face is that almost no one understands what we are doing here.   Few really understand Ethereum either, but that is beside the point.    The feedback I am given is that despite my interviews, long conversations, etc no one seems to really understand it at a level that they can explain to others.

On this forum I would assume that 90% like what we are doing without even understanding it all in detail.  These are people with good intuition, but intuition is sometimes hard to explain.  There are perhaps 10% that can start to explain how and why it works.

This is what Brian Page is working night and day to solve.

I would also submit that we already have more than enough publicity at this stage in development.  Now a month after we have BitShares XT launched successfully then will be the time to really pile on the marketing.

i recall someone in the Miami conference thought you are creating A.I corporations that will eventually take over the world  :D

BitShares AGS / Re: Invested in AGS from Coinbase webwallet
« on: February 07, 2014, 07:40:05 pm »
When you invest in angelshares, they track the address the funds came from.  With Coinbase, they have all the bitcoins in a big rotating storage system so the address they would have been sent from would not have been attached to your coinbase account.

So yeah, I think you're screwed on that donation.

Hi Adam, are you sure about this ? I recall when i invested, i check the angelshares explorer and my permanent coinbase wallet address showed in the list of donators along with the correct amount i invested.

If its a matter of "im screwed on that donation" well i'm gonna have to talk to bytemaster as that would be unacceptable. I have records of the investment.

I am not sure about this, and if Coinbase has permanent addresses that are attributable to you that might solve things.  Also as you mentioned, if you can positively identify your donation there *should* be a way for invictus to make sure you get your due.

but generally speaking, you'll recover your AGS by importing your wallet.dat that contains the private key to the address you donated from.   I don't know how you can do that with Coinbase, but if you can than no problem.

Yeah i dont think coinbase allows u to import/ export a wallet.dat, so that might be a problem. However, They do give you permanent addresses that are linked to your account forever

I wasn't aware of that aspect, i'm gonna drop Dan an PM and see what he thinks.

Thanks

MemoryCoin / Re: MemoryCoin branding a major issue ?
« on: February 05, 2014, 08:15:21 am »
Not sure a rebranding is needed because the alt coin market is simply being flooded and is going to die to be honest.

These verification codes to post and edit messages are silly. I'm done with these forums.

its only for new posters, few posts later no need to verify. Its actually a good tool to protect from spammers.

How can u be "done" with this forum if this was your first post ? anyways good luck.

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares versus Counterparty?
« on: February 03, 2014, 08:15:53 pm »
I just came across something called Counterparty, which appears to be a new competitor to Bitshares:
https://counterparty.co/about/

I would be interested to hear people's opinions about it.

Interesting with the following problems:

1) non fungible assets
2) no dividends
3) proof-of-burn is idiotic
4) depends upon price feeds.

General Discussion / Re: Estimated Price of 1 Bitshare
« on: February 03, 2014, 07:25:04 pm »
My hope and expectation is for each Bitshare to be worth about $200 on launch

You're going to be disappointed.  Let's think about this.  If they will be worth that much, than the price of PTS would be through the roof right now.  Look at where PTS is trading.  It will be worth less.

Pts is severely undervalued atm, it will gain its real value once people witness III projects blossoming.
