General Discussion / Re: Bitcoin sidechain instead of bitBTC ?
« on: January 26, 2016, 06:19:28 pm »
If this is possible, my first impression is that it's a good idea. Again I dont now the technical details, but it's a good way to make use of Bitcoin and build a better relationship with other communities. People might also think it's safer since Bitcoin is more robust. And they wouldn't perceive us as a competing project, but one that complements bitcoin

How do you use BitShares in all of this? Is gamebet gold issued on BitShares?

gamebetgold is backed by bicoin
gamebetsilver is by steam items

where does bitshares enter in the equation?

You have just described the current fiat monetary system we have now. Thank you

Exactly, hence trustless bitassets are better because they require collateral and supplies can't be gamed and the asset doesn't depend on anyone to survive. If a business with a privatized asset went bankrupt most likely their assets would become worthless. With trustless assets that doesnt happen

Its a record for every coin.
Chinese individuals are on a "buy-random-coin" spree

But they mostly do it on chinese exchanges. Meanwhile we have $16k volume. All this hype will most likely disappear but if by any chance lasts, it will be a good opportunity for our decentralized exchange. Plus if OpenLedger adds all the new hyped coins or potential great coins as soon as they're released, we could increase our chances of volume growth. Look at Polo, Eth and Factom got there and volumes are pretty good. If we add those and Emercoin we could be lucky. Basically all Azure's coins, since they seem to be the trend atm.

General Discussion / Is this a record for BitShares? $25k volume!
« on: January 26, 2016, 05:29:45 pm »
$16k volume. Never saw that.

Edit: Let's see how our volume grows. Anyone who sees a spike in volume please take a picture of it and share here! It's good to share on social media. Imagine if we had that $50k volume pic!

Achievements:
- $25k - done
- $50k - done (needs pic)
- $75k
- $100k
- $150k

@TheGift73 that doesnt seem usual at all. All cryptos are green if you check coinmarketcap atm, however BTS has a 15% increase which we haven't seen for quite a while. Will probably go back to where it was, most likely, but didn't see that for quite a while now, that I remember

How do I create a privatized bitasset?

It's just a normal UIA. For example OPENBTC from OpenLedger is OpenLedger's privatized Bitcoin asset. TCNY is bitcrab's privatized CNY asset. However you should back it up as the community will make sure that you have what you claim to have, otherwise you could just print a million  ACER.USD and sell them. People want to know you have what you claim to have.

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: Why is that hard to import BTS keys in MUSE wallet?

Cant seem to claim balances or create a backup. It just does nothing. I'm using the most recent release. It seems to freeze. I want to buy some but I want to be safe first, can't do that without a backup.

I created an account first then imported keys. It was "Loading balance claims..." for a few minutes. I have 86k keys. Now the page shows

"Wallet Management Console"

 Importing Keys

with a loading animation. This took me a few minutes too.

Edit: Now I'm checking "Lookup Balances" menu and waiting. "Loading balance claims..."
It's taking more time than the previous steps..
Half an hour already and still "Loading balance claims..."

Just reporting in. I'll edit if I successfully import the keys so other people know the procedure. I didn't check the "Lookup Balances" option yet.

This is my favourite video so far, it gives a fast quick peak at the exchange. Ideal to whoever is curious about it. If you have a twitter account https://twitter.com/AkadoSang/status/691758600235171841

slack seems better for this kind of stuff. bitshares name is already taken

Great! I would have showed a bit more of the exchange like the menus for example so people can really see how it looks like. This way people are signing up but they still don't know what for.

I'm guessing you'll do it on other future videos and since you're going this route, that you'll add a few screenshots to the website so this shoudn't be a problem. Well done, this was very in need  +5%

note: 70 subscribers, 30 more to go so you can finally change the first video's thumbnail. This video should get you a few more subscribers.

It would be great to get back to a dividend because I really want to see a bitshares bank. I would stitch over in a heartbeat.

agree, dividends were the most interesting features and a great marketing point.

this. can't dividends come from the fee pool? the same fees that the committee just collected to bring more liquidity. we can't do everything at the same time but maybe an idea to consider in the future? or allocate some percentage of those fees as interest.

That was our strongest selling point at the time I believe. It was taken away because of delegate pay, well, we don't have that anymore and we have the fee pool. That fee is to be used to improve liquidity. Interest is an incentive for people to create and hold bitassets.

While I think forced settlement should be at less than 1-1, I agree with BM that due to the forced settlement function, dividends might make BitAssets trade above the peg....

Quote
Attempting to boost the value of BitUSD with yield is counter productive once the new approach to BitAssets is internalized and shorts know they can be force settled at the price feed at any time. Under these rules BitUSD already has a floor and paying yield on BitUSD would only serve to raise BitUSD above the floor and break the peg.

https://bitshares.org/blog/2015/06/08/lessons-learned-from-bitshares-0.x/#socialized-yield-is-broken

I think in the current market conditions the dividend needs to be paid to shorts to bring them closer to the peg.

My bad you're right. Interest should be paid to bitasset creators. I was just placing in the same bag as holders but they're completely different things. I agree with you on that. There should be an incentive for bitasset creators.

@BunkerChain Labs maybe apply that idea to shorters!

what happened to this idea and the proposal to sell accumulated fees which are now sitting in the committee account?

I've asked about this too. I was under the assumption they had all figured out so once it was approved, they could immediately do that. However that's not what happened. The fees got collected but they're still finding the best way to use them...
