General Discussion / Re: STEALTH Status Update

Awesome work, can't wait to try stealth mode! Tried Dash a few days ago, but the wallet was pretty mediocre, and the "darksend mixing" didn't complete even after 30 hours... Hopefully this is better :)

Thanks and congrats to onceuponatime for STEALTH as well  +5%

The big problem is with the organization of markets on the Trade page.  But svk is in the process of making some very exciting changes.  I'm looking forward to that!

Merging option might not be the best way to solve it, but I think people like to act from the perspective of a single, concrete user, and the allocentric logical perspective breaks with this. For instance, most people won't have more than one account, which makes the dashboards "home" location confusing. As I see it better to have a drop down menu for switching accounts, and a "see all" option than to have a dedicated overview page of all the accounts and recent activity.

Also, it's really not a problem to have 4 main menu items.  Navigation is easy enough.

I don't care about pushing through any particular changes, but I do think we should be very careful with how many buttons and options we present the users with when they first enter the page. Marketing research shows even font color much less an extra button or field can drop conversions by tens of percent. The ratios of people dropping at the first 30 seconds of using the wallet at this stage is far more significant than the gains we get from new features.

General Discussion / Re: How much did Stellar and Ripple give new users?
« on: February 24, 2016, 03:01:38 am »
It calls to mind receiving 1,000 XRP on OpenCoin's first Giveaway, this was back when ripple was still in private beta. The amount was equivalent to $8 USD (Feb 2013). I will try to find out though, how much was given on platform upon account creation.

Yeah I remember 1000 as well, with some clever referral stuff,

"you get 1k Free STR for sending 1k STR..  Hence if you send me the 1K... I'll send 500 back to you."

At 10-20 mill marketcap 1000-2000 is  4-16 dollars.

General Discussion / Re: Looking for Most Concise Rationale For SmartCoins
« on: February 24, 2016, 02:55:35 am »
Smartcoins are cryptocurrencies that track the value of ordinary currencies and assets; like other cryptocurrencies they run on an open, shared, global ledger that makes it impossible for anyone else to change, freeze or move your funds. Any amount of smartcoins can be sent anywhere in the world, free of charge, any time of day, in less than 5 seconds.

Smartcoins are derivatives backed by the blockchain.

Technical Support / Overall Navigation

Let us use this thread for suggestions to the overall navigation, how we should direct the focus of the users entering the wallet.

One quick suggestion I would have is merge "dashboard" and "explore" - both of those screens are navigational. Second, I suggest relabel "trade" "Exchange" or "Market." That way there would be three buttons instead of four, "Dashboard" -"Exchange" - "Transfer".

The overall navigation is what governs how the users that enter the interface end up clicking things. If we want liquidity, we should direct the attention of the user towards the exchange. It would help to have a trollbox there as well. There could also be a fancy title somewhere saying "Decentralized Exchange" to remind the user that they are participating in something extraordinary.

Well that's just some of my random suggestions.

General Discussion / Re: Newsletter - Special Leap Year Edition
« on: February 22, 2016, 03:40:47 pm »
Having something done with 5 days notice is more costly than having it done within a month, even if the amount of work is the same. If we give people 2 weeks notice to write, and leave 1 week for editing, I think most people will take the time to write something, and more people will be willing to take time to help edit as well e.g. 3 people around a google doc.

James Clayton made an interesting comment in a Crypto Group on Facebook:

"In case people don't know, almost everything in crypto media is paid. It isn't like journalists are going around looking for hot stories to give free press for companies, very little of that anyway. They mostly wait for people to come to them with Bitcoin. Pretty much how everything is now."

Might be something to think about when we want something out there.

The only diffrence is there are actually journalists out there waiting for a good story and will do it for free.

At the moment half of my major media releases are paid and the other is not, Coindesk is one of the few I still have to pay to get an article out, and the recent PRbuzz I am doing is paid as well, but I like it so much that I have now done three of each 700 USD in the last two weeks.

Point is, its wrong to say you have to pay to get the media out there, you pay when you feel you have to, the rest of the time you make whatyou want to present an exclusive story and give it to one major media and they will offer to do it for free.

Great to see you shedding some light on this issue. :)
