Technical Support / Re: Updating to new wallet...

you can go here http://dacsunlimited.com/binaries/wallet/  and get any version you like.

i'm thinking my current sync issues may be due to my need to upgrade from 4.8 to 4.9.  waiting for an answer to my sync question before i go that route.

No the old version are not working because of the hard fork. You should install version 0.4.9-a this is the one working. Also I suggest to do a clean installation too : https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=7849.msg103955#msg103955

i figured that was the issue, since my wallet stopped updating at an even numbered block.  340800.  some random network issue or whatever would have a very small chance of stopping the sync at such an even number.

i just installed over the top, and it's working just fine.  maybe i'll do a clean install on the next upgrade...

No if it is working no need for clean install :)
That suggestion was for Zen1 cause he seems to still have trouble. In my case only the clean install fixed everything.

Thanks guys!

It's been challenging at times. I was just talking to Toast about this today in fact.  It was very difficult early on to do marketing when there is no product or service to market!  Just an idea.  Now that we have something, we're off to the races.

I lose sleep (for real) a lot of nights, with excitement about what we're working on behind the scenes here...not just me but my incredibly capable team and all of you who are working on your own pet marketing projects (thank you-you know who you are).

With that being said, be patient with me as sometimes I've made slight technical errors in the way I describe things in my interviews and talks.  Most people would hardly notice except for those who really understand how all this works. Bytemaster is quick to gently correct anything that I may have stated inaccurately and I'm quick to adjust my pitch moving forward. I often use a LOT of analogies, stories and generalizations to get the ideas across to the masses.

This whole journey with BitShares is like designing a car.  I may know nothing about fuel injection, calculating cornering loads or how the chassis bolts together, but I do know how to make people desire one and understand what it can do for them. Because after all, most people really just want to know that when they step on the gas, they're going to go somewhere and look good in the process.

I'm not going to rest until the world has heard about BitShares, they're talking about BitShares around the dinner table, and they're downloading and using our technology in their everyday life.  It's a tall order, for sure....audacious.  But we will make the world want it because we believe the world NEEDS it.

Onward and upward!
B

+1 +1 In one post I said you lacked passion for Bitshares. I was obviously wrong :) !!!

From libertarianism to democracy to oligarchy to tyranny, even faster than I expected.

:(  that is an interesting point of view... and I see your parallels.

Well if the whole system depend on it !!!  So be it !! Sometimes tyranny do wonders.

Cleaner install although  it takes more time :

1. File -> Export Wallet (just in case)
2- Uninstall your BitsahresX
3. Go to C:\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\BitShares X and delete all except your folder wallet.
4. Install the new version(0.4.9.-a) it will take a while to sync again.

0.4.9-a has the same crash just short of block 300,000

I removed all files except wallet, and sync again and it works now I have 8 connections. No crash since either.

Xeroc has helped me out a couple times.  +5%

I am trying to "pass it on" so to speak. :)

Coinhoarder did a nice writeup on wallet restoration.

Xeroc never logs off bitsharestalk.  I think maybe he is a bot ?

Still getting "Not Connected" with 0.4.9-a
So am I.
0.4.9-a on Windows 7 does not connect.

I got that too but if you let is "sit" it seems to start synching...slowly...

Now it got the connection but gets stuck on block 321976.
Is there anything I should do to make it go further?

I could not connect either with 0.4.9-a. I removed all files except wallet, and sync again and it works now I have 8 connections.

we maybe should stop trading before this bug is fixed

I doubt the recent sell off is due to bug issues but even so I'm looking at it as a shorting opportunity in the future ;D

Well you need a functional wallet in order to short ... Hopefully a fix will be release soon.

Looks like you connected to a peer running an old version of the code.  Error was on their side, not yours.

I have the exact same error and it is trying to connect to the  same peer.

After a restart the error is gone but the syn process got stuck on block 321978.

Yup me too same thing.
Same here, stuck on block 321978 then No connection.

General Discussion / Re: When will the next BTSX pump and dump happen?
« on: August 27, 2014, 08:23:55 pm »
I understand you guys are probably upset about buying at a higher price than it is now, but I wouldn't worry about it. Just hold onto your BTSX and don't sell at a loss. I am confident when I say BTSX will be worth much more than it was a day or so ago at some point in the future.

My answer to the title of your OP was obviously a joke, because it was kind of a stupid question (sorry but truth.) No one knows what the market is going to do at any certain time. No one knows if it will go down more, if it will go back up, or if it will stay about the same for a while.

You need to trust in the idea of bitassets and how they are valuable to the crypto currency community, which will thus make the price eventually rise above what it was a couple days ago. It also annoyed me that you yourself are seemingly trying to pump and dump BTSX... You basically said "when will price go back up so I can dump". That is slightly annoying to me that you'd be annoyed with people for doing the same thing you are trying to do to other people.

If you can't see the value in bitassets, you are going to be missing out on a large profit sometime in the future (how long is anyone's guess).

General Discussion / Re: Why is Bitsharesx dropping like a rock?
« on: August 27, 2014, 03:38:39 am »
That's what I have been doing.

You can check it works, because I can now buy more (a fair bit mind you) then what I originally had in BTSX to begin with.

It's actually quite amazing, the peg is holding really well too.

I'm in bitUSD atm too..  I don't think this is the floor.

The peg is almost spot on.. I think we can consider the experiment a success. :)

Yup looks good :)
