Sexist stereotyping probably isn't going to help...

I must say that I find some of the comments in this thread disappointingly unconstructive at best. :-[
I must also say that I dislike the word 'unconstructive', but have, nevertheless, decided to use it! :P

Interesting discussion. Tim mentions how DPoS can be a better consensus model than PoW for most application because of centralization.

I happened to listen to the podcast of this today.

If you go back a little bit earlier in the video (http://youtu.be/zF2YwOnH-CA?t=21m16s) he states that DPOS is more distributed than Bitcoin.

I'd love to hear David Irvine comment on the blog post. If I see anything I'll come back to this thread to mention it.

Edit: Just had a look and saw this on the Maidsafe forum (with no comment from David yet) https://www.maidsafe.org/t/bytemater-bitshares-daniel-larimer-opinion-on-maidsafe/2902

General Discussion / Re: ShapeShift useful for bitUSD?
« on: January 31, 2015, 08:29:24 pm »
I saw about $60 worth of NXT was ShapeShifted into BTS!
I'm imagining someone changing some of their NXT so thay can try out Bitshares.
The convenience offered by ShapeShift can bring in new people who otherwise may not have bothered - excellent!
This is a bit of an on-ramp...

General Discussion / What does Peter Todd mean in his tweet about P.O.W.?
« on: January 26, 2015, 07:40:09 pm »
He tweeted, "One thing proof-of-work does is to convert burned proof-of-stake to a form that can be validated with O(1) scaling".

I don't even understand the meaning of his sentence.
Does anyone care to enlighten me?

I saw this article linked in a tweet by Charles Hoskinson.

It's good to see David Morris put the effort into providing more substance than many writers in this space.

Thank you. I love him.
I guess my daughters would like this too because of loving "Frozen".

It is with upset that I say I'm unlikely to make it there tomorrow.
It's a shame because it would've been great to meet you all. I don't know anyone who knows about Bitcoin, let alone BitShares!
I hope you all enjoy it...

Maybe we could have a bounty to investigate who owns this name. It's likely to be closely linked to whatever the real account name they used unless they tried hard to preserve anonymity.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to find out?! I'd love to see how such a thing could be done. What resources would likely be necessary? What would be the chances of finding the culprit?

It's too sad that there are opportunists (on all scales) who will cause harm by taking from others.

I'd like to come along to meet you all. I'm not sure yet whether or not I'll be able to make it though. :-\

The website is sparse on information - not sure what to expect from this...

@bytemaster

I'm very pleased to see from you a recommended reading list. I have for some time wished for this, but didn't suggest it earlier because I didn't want to waste (or waist  :P ;)) your time.

It's even better than getting music recommendations from one's favorite musician, because this stuff's more fundamentally important (I think?).

Thank you for taking the time to produce this. Now I need to find the time to read some of them.

I hope others will find your list as beneficial as I expect to.

By the way, how have you ordered the list?

the blog should just be its own delegate, vote yourself in that way it stays free in an unfree world.

I predict that this would bring strong criticism. People would start arguing about centralization of voting power and delegates leading to use of propaganda.

the blog is great, but why you started to use adsense again? it looks like you want to sell me something.

affiliatelinks on books is ok, but why adsense too? makes no sense.

It is part of my plan to create a self-funding referral system.   If I can generate revenue from traffic, then pass that revenue on to successful conversions to BitShares users then we can reach more people.

Also, if there are no Ads then people suspect something else.  I will probably create a blog post about my strategy in time.

I don't like the ad based model of the Internet. Why not go with micropayments? Why use ads?

Until the use of micropayments is commonplace, wouldn't this create too much of a barrier between bytemaster's thoughts and the intended audience?

General Discussion / Re: BTER Withdrawals
« on: December 14, 2014, 09:48:51 pm »
Because of this issue, I wasn't able to withdraw BTS shares to my personal wallet before the 7pm EST snapshots.  So the question I have is whether I will be able to receive the shares earned associated with the snapshot.  Anyone know whether BTER will elect to facilitate those shares being delivered to my account within BTER or will they elect to keep them because my BTS were stored on their exchange at the time of the snapshots?

bter are among the best for honoring BitShares snapshots, so I wouldn't worry.
Also, as Graffenwalder said, the snapshot hasn't happened yet. If you're still awake you could try checking again:

My old transaction get canceled. Now withdrawal on bter pretty smooth.
