Having trustless gateways would be awesome. Could we issue feature-backed asset for this?

.bin is an encrypted wallet... you still need to know your password.

To restore the wallet from backup, go to Settings -> Restore/Import -> select your file -> enter password -> Submit

There used to be a 1:1 buy wall in OPENBTC_OPEN.BTC market. Try OpenLedger support at support@openledger.info or https://t.me/OpenLedgerDC

Do you have some BTS in your account so that you can pay transaction fee? If not, you can change fee currency to Open.BTC

They might not be needed but it's always good to have some competition. It's like having one Eurozone but hundreds of banks, each with their own branches and ATMs providing slightly different services for different target audience for different prices. Theoretically it is enough to have just one bank in Europe/world.

A sure way of finding out if this is the case, is if someone with a balance greater than the hot wallet attempts to withdraw their BTS..

Any big holder willing to move funds out and in after their wallet is enabled?

BitShares deposit/withdrawals are disabled on Poloniex right now, again.
