Bitshares Play is good. It encompasses video games, lottos, anything virtual for entertainment.
Play all the way!
As for steam, that shouldnt be too much of a problem in the long term. This is a place where the delegates could fuel the construction of a platform that competes with steam. Best thing about it would be to have video game makers actually give in-game bonuses in new cryptos (like a faucet, only where playing occasionally gives you tokens that are sent directly to your bitshares wallet).
Also could enable the community to create content that requires a donation in (devs prefered crypto) in order to open it up...aka "unlock" it , for everyones open use.
It would really be awesome if bitshares gaming could also be used in games that have metagames in them (thinking back to games like pc baldurs gate) where games of chance are played at a carnival or other gameworld festival/betting house, using the ingame currency (usually gold, silver, copper)...but with a chance to actually hit it big in real crypto. These things would be far better alternatives to the current faucet system and would fix what bytemaster said, and I call the "no work" problem, where people do not value something that is simply given to them as much as something they feel like they actually took a risk to acquire. Games and game worlds have a big hole right now where platforms like steam have a difficult time monetizing both the players and mod makers experience (not for them, of steam itself, of course...but rather for the rest of the ecosystem). Crypto would be a wonderful "mortar" to put those bricks together..
