Please abandon these bad habits:
- moving things around (like above problem with wallet.bitshares.org URL, why not use HTTP 302 to redirect queries?)
- serving Err 404 not found pages (Recently I deleted whole "bitshares bookmark" section from my browser because half of them were 404)
- changing product names (Protoshares PTS Bitshares BitsharesPTS. Man what a maze. I only hope BitShares is final!)

I'm not sure why the URL was changed, but I agree it's going to be confusing to anyone who wasn't around when the change took place.
The whole ProtoShares PTS BitShares thing is a little more explainable, however. Protoshares was changed to PTS because of trademark issues. Protoshares/PTS was not and was never intended to be BitShares. Protoshares was created as a way to mine for a stake in BitShares BEFORE the BitShares software was written. Protoshares was a clone of the bitcoin client, so it could be released faster than the BitShares code could be developed.

Bitshares.org sits behind Cloudflare, the famous man-in-the-middle-attack 'website booster'. Any and all communication with bitshares.org actually goes through Cloudflare, and they CAN READ AND INJECT your data stream.
Avoid like the plague. Use OpenLedger instead.

When you create a new wallet you can provide the brain key

I guess wallet.bitshares.org was the old 1.0 web wallet. Not sure how to recover funds from a backup made by that.
https://bitshares.org/wallet is the new 2.0 web wallet, thus absolutely different thing.
(And there were 1.0 light wallet, 1.0 mobile wallet etc, how to recover?)
