Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Make BitShares go viral from within the app
« on: February 04, 2015, 08:11:51 am »
+5%

The only problem I see (based on my experience) is in every email there will be a recipient will mark and report it as spam, your host provider and even your domain registrar will lock the site or domain until you remove the spam flagged to the site, it take days so the site will not be accessible then.

In order to be able to buy your own short .. why not put the buy order first and then the short sell order?

Yes, this is actually a good point while the feed price is less than the buy price.
Otherwise to make sure, short first then buy.

I never say it has fixed 4% yield, traders know it varies.
It's an old hedging technique, instead of holding BTS with no yield, hold bitSilver instead but use hedging to protect the amount of your BTS in price movements.
If you find it not worth it then don't try it, that's why I said you are old enough to be responsible for your actions.

Stakeholder Proposals / Increase trading fee for higher yield
« on: February 04, 2015, 05:04:14 am »
Centralize exchanger like Bter has 0.2% trading fee
So if I buy/sell 10k of bts, that is 20 bts fee, but in Bitshares that is only 0.1 bts fee

Why not let us offer 0.01% fee (min 0.1 bts and let's set max fee of 5 bts) only on market IA trade fee
So 10k trade is only 1 bts fee, the 100k trade is max 5 bts fee.
This way we are still the lowest and also it helps the yield grow, then more traders will hold and will take advantage of the yield benefits.

We are burning BTS in everything like new registration, delegates, transfer, trading.
Why not let the Market IA trading keep its fee and add all to the yield?
Also, fee for Market IA should NOT be in BTS
So trading with bitUSD:BTS, all fees will be bitUSD and will not burn but will add all to the yield.

General Discussion / TIPS: Make some profit while holding BTS
« on: February 04, 2015, 04:08:09 am »
Hedging, hold bitSilver with 4%/yr yield
1. Go to market, search for BitSILVER:BTS
2. Make a short on bitSilver (set the price limit higher than the buy order and set the interest rate to 0)
3. Immediately buy your short
4. Cover before the exp. date.

Before 30 days cover your short, your BTS will return but with more bitSilver on your fund because of the yield.

Warning:
1. Set the Short price limit higher than the buy order and set the interest rate to 0
2. Immediately buy your Short, because there are bots that are buying lower price  (I recommend to set the price lower on the sell order and other users short order)
3. It required 2x the value to short and 1x to buy your short, so make sure you have enough BTS (3x the value)
4. Don't do this when you're drunk
5. Recommended to bored users who keep staring their BTS balance.
6. Good luck, and remember you are old enough to be responsible for your actions.

Is mining for minebitshares going to be worth doing with just a PC, if I had no specialized mining hardware?

If so, is there a tutorial for how to get started?  Assume I have never mined any crypto currency before, by the time I got into crypto you needed an ASIC to effectively mine, and that option mathed out as inferior to just buying BTC/other cryptos.

Mining is no longer profitable unless you have existing mining hardware and free electricity.

BitGold has large spread, it will be a problem to pool operator to buy bitGold, also bitUSD has higher yield compare to bitGold.

General Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Ethereum-Ripple

Don't worry, at this very moment we have Brian Page bringing in some large "whales" from St. Marten. It's super hush hush though. Don't tell anyone.

Ugh, I hear ya. Can't believe I'd ever find myself agreeing with NewMine. It feels like things were so different a few months back. Every day was a new exciting announcement, a new window opened, a new reason to be hyped for BitShares...

Dinner in St. Martin with Kevin Harrington!
Talk of whales/strategic partnerships ready to buy in soon!
1.0 on the way!
Marketing blitz about to commence! Secret sauce was kept under wraps, but it's gonna be huge!
Possible partnership with Vitalik and Ethereum?! No way!
Infomercials!
John Underwood remittance partnership!
Vote has a super exciting secret sauce! Could we get it in the 2016 elections?!?
Referral program! Pre-paid card partnership ready to go!
Talk of a credit union! Could BTS buy one??

...then the merger happened. And all the excitement came to a grinding halt as the forum became a battle ground between PTS and BTS and every other post was about inflation, or allocation squabbles, or nubits being a Ponzi, or some company stealing our brand, etc. PR disaster after PR disaster.

I still think BTS has the best tech and the best shot at success. But damn, things have been grim lately. Apologies for the rant...

The funny thing is; only one of those things that were promised or eluded to by I3 will ever come to light at the hands and sweat of I3. 1.0, that is all. Everything else was a pie in the sky bullshit promises sold to loyal followers in order to keep toeing the line that justifies all the AGS donations.

I think the Devs should give every person who publicly thought Brian Page should be fired some of their I3 funds. 1000 each for every excuse and back they gave Brian Page in that glorious May thread.

Link: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=4779.0  Much foot in the mouth going in that thread. Lesson: not all negativity is unwarranted or unjustified. Take the negativity and think for one second that maybe it's justified and you may end up 1 step ahead rather than exactly where you were or two steps back. Sometimes the person holding the flashlight needs it shined upon themselves in order for the others to see clearly too. It sucks having to be the voice of reason here even when I am right.

Are you going to return all your NOTES when they become liquid?? This request of yours is completely selfish and irrational. How many times do you need to be told that your donations came with no strings attached. No one owes you shit. Get over it.

Ouch :D

General Discussion / Re: BitShares Virtual Mining Pool - BitUSD
« on: February 01, 2015, 05:08:52 pm »
Thanks for the compliment. I'm just doing what I can with what I have. :)

I would love to put money into the mining pool but I don't want to buy equipment.

What you can do is rent mining equipment and recieve mining payouts in bitusd

If the 5% bonus is already implemented then that is a good idea.

223
When is the bitUSD payout and the 5% bonus payout available?

I agree with Helikoperben, this is  a terrible idea. This kind of thing is better addressed by Play, putting gambling in BTS will just make us look desperate.

We are desperate; we are closer to the cliff than you realise.

I hate this idea, but sadly a dying person can't pick and choose.
I disagree, I think we're looking better than ever with a product that's finally close to the state it should have been in at launch. If you really think we're about to fall off a cliff, feel free to enlighten us.

There's been lots of positive developments lately like Shapeshift and the arrival of serious Chinese delegates that make me optimistic about the future. The light wallet is another one that will help take us to the next level, we just need to focus on what Bitshares does and optimize the hell out of it, no need to expand the scope of what Bitshares is.

What about this Chinese delegates? can you give us some info?

Agreed that Decentraliced Dice Game is an awesome idea, thus the DACx.com took advantage of PLAY Shares,  mostly Chinese devs so US regulation is not much a concern, plus the PLS coin is fixed to 2 Billion and deflating from usage, freezing and burning.
