I agree with @currencydebt.
It may sound silly, but numerical superstitions are prolific in Chinese culture, and I'm sure everyone agrees it probably would not be wise to accidentally exclude large portions of the Chinese....

BM,I don't think 38888888 is a good idea for chinese, 88888888 might be a good lucky number...I agree with @currencydebt.

Haha ok maybe 88,888,888In Germany the number 88 stands for HH.

Yes I agree, these things seem silly, but 88 888 888 is a great idea.
The bigger the number the better it would seem. (I would even add another 8. For some reason having a 100 000 of something makes the average Western person feel much richer than having 10 of something even if their value is the same.)
Having a lucky Chinese number is also a fantastic idea. It also sends the right message, that you're thinking about and respecting the Chinese market as a big part of the future.

I like 8,888,888 ,because the amount is enough and the pronunciation of this number in chinese is very very nice.

I've got to know! Can you "sound it out" phonetically so we can all imagine how it sounds in Chinese?

Because 88 888 888 is too complicated when read in chinese ,but 8 888 888 is simpler , sounds better and will be more popular.
That sounds like " ba bai ba shi ba wan ba qian ba bai ba shi ba" , and I believe people will like to simply read as 8 880 000" that means "ba bai ba shi ba wan" in daily use case.
:)

You can hear the sound at Google translation : http://translate.google.com.hk/#auto/zh-CN/88%20888%20888
Yes! The Google translation for 88,888,888 sounds fantastic - good enough to be a ringtone.
Seriously though, perhaps eight eights would be best.
A Chinese airline paid a lot for the phone number 88888888

"an eight-digit number containing only the number eight is considered especially auspicious"
Haha ok maybe 88,888,888
Yep! m% and u% should be standard. I'm wondering whether it should be made explicit enough that people could actually trade in terms of specific-block-m%, which would let people earn their dividends "right away" instead of having to wait for the market to move to adjust

I agree, having lived in that region. There are no problems with 5; that poster was mistaken. The number 4 is unlucky in much of East Asia because the Chinese character for 4 sounds the same as the one for death. 7 is a very lucky number in much of the world and, in other places, so is 8. But I think the crazy eights 88888888... looks idiotic. If you're going to use 8, then make it a nice round 800,000 or 8,000,000, etc.

88888888 ? BLEH, I hate it.Ya all the 8s are a bit much. I just spoke to a Chinese friend and she says the 8s are a sign of 'new money'. More of a gambling thing. So maybe just the one 8 is fine. 8,000,000.
Just make it 8,000,000. That's easily divisible and ratios are easily calculated in BTS, BTS, AGS, etc.
+5% agreed, one 8 is plenty lucky and easier on the eyes88888888 ? BLEH, I hate it.Ya all the 8s are a bit much. I just spoke to a Chinese friend and she says the 8s are a sign of 'new money'. More of a gambling thing. So maybe just the one 8 is fine. 8,000,000.
