Title: Supporting Korean Bitshares Community - delegate-clayop
Post by: clayop on October 04, 2014, 06:12:11 am
Hello, Bitshares community! I'm Jaewoo Cho from South Korea and running a delegate for Bitshares network.

While cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Litecoin, and other altcoins (e.g. Darkcoin) are famous in Korea crypto community, unfortunately Bitshares is not well-known. This is the reason why I want to be the first and only delegate of Korea.

Here's plan for my delegate payment:

0) Estimated total income: $75/month
1) Server maintenance: $25/month
Google cloud platform g1.small (1.7G memory, 30G SSD)
2) Translation and development: $50/month
To attract developers, the fund will used for creating simple python script, etc.
For better community participation, important documents will be translated into Korean ($10 per 200 words)

The following is my role as delegate,

1. Make the pie bigger
Korea is a high-tech and economically developed country and there is a big potential market for Bitshares.
I will keep contacting exchanges, PG, and other service providers, as well as laypeople to adopt Bitshares technology.
2. Managing Bitcoin 2.0 child-board in Korean cryptocurrency community (http://www.ddengle.com/bitcoinshare)
Discussions and delivering informations are live there.
3. Managing bitshares.kr blog.
I am uploading updates/news and basic instructions.
4. Issued KOREAN to play with and airdropping them (http://www.ddengle.com/bitcoinshare/899890)
This really give incentives people to finalize their registration. They can play with KOREAN in BTS market as well.
5. Recruiting talented developers and encourging them to get involved in Bitshares community
This is the most important mission for me. I will bring them to BTS community and let them do their job to benefit Bitshares!

Finally Here's list of my trusted delegates on my slate:
Code: [Select]
        "angel.bitdelegate",
        "argentina-marketing.matt608",
        "bm.payroll.riverhead",
        "bitfeeds.chsln",
        "btstools.digitalgaia",
        "emski.bitdelegate",
        "del0.cass",
        "delegate-alt",
        "delegate.bitsuperlab",
        "delegate.liondani",
        "delegate.xeldal",
        "delegate.xeroc",
        "dev-metaexchange.monsterer",
        "dev.bitsharesblocks",
        "dev.sidhujag",
        "dev0.nikolai",
        "immortal.bitdelegate",
        "jcalfee1-developer-team.helper.liondani",
        "marketing.methodx",
        "mr.agsexplorer",
        "mrs.agsexplorer",
        "stan.delegate.xeldal",
        "testz",
        "valzav.payroll.testz"

Delegate is an honory position for me. I will keep doing my mission regardless of becoming delegate. I just want to be encouraged by community and to refresh our community with diversity.
Thank you

Updates:

1. Decreased pay rate to 50%.
2. After consulting devs, BitKRW will be added.
3. Korean community will have Bitcoin 2.0 board, which embraces Bitshares, Etereum, etc.

Please support delegate-clayop and promote diversity in community.

UPDATES

I have decided to remain 3% payrate mainly because I am not a developer who expand BTS boundary, and because delegate is an honory position for me.

As an non-technician, my major role is ushering Korean users, especially talented developers, to Bitshares community. To do this I am doing the following tasks.

1. Supporting registration fee (http://www.ddengle.com/bitcoinshare/891557)
About twenty people already received BTS for registration. Now the BTS from my personal fund, but if I get into number 101 it is supported by the payment.

Once I bring them to BTS community and let them do their job to benefit Bitshares, I will be out delegate job.

Again, delegate is an honory position for me. I will keep doing my mission regardless of becoming delegate. I just want to be encouraged by community and to refresh our community with diversity.
Thank you

I'm contacting Korean exchange for adding Bitshares onto its list. It deals with fiat (KRW), BTC, and LTC only now.
But due to a packing schedule, they may can consider my proposal in January.

Sorry about the delay. I will keep updating.

Two thoughts are around my mind now.

First, I am considering to decrease my delegate pay rate to 2% or even 1%. By doing this, I (non-developer nor marketing specialist)  can support Bitshares community more.

Second, if possible, I want to set up 0% delegate for volunteering. (IIRC, it's not possible now)

What do you think about my ideas?

Updated to 0.4.25-RC1 and started publishing price feeds! Although my feeds are not valid until I become the 101, it is exciting experience. And yes I'm ready.

+5% for publishing feeds .. currently all delegates have 3% or more .. and imho they nees that much to be anle to at leaat pay for the server .. so i dont see a proble with having 3% pay in the short term ..

Thanks for your thought Xeroc. Yes you're right. In addition, I think I have to save some fund to give bounties for translation.
My next project will be introducing recommended delegates to Korean community (unfortunately vato's data has gone...). A good news is the number of people interested in BTS is increasing.

Clayop is a great example for standby delegates as someone who contributes to the community, stays up to date with versions, tries to publish feeds and stays positive even though he hasn't been voted in yet! He definitely deserves our support, he's currently in 150th place so please consider adding him to your votes!

I wrote a python script that makes it as easy as it can be for anyone to publish a slate:
https://github.com/xeroc/delegate-slate
maybe you are interested ...

+5% for publishing a slate ... and thanks for including me :)

Title: Re: delegate-clayop, Short proposal
Post by: clayop on December 19, 2014, 06:29:59 pm
Thanks for supporting me as a delegate. I am very happy to become this honorable position.
Here is my short proposal.

Purpose
Stage 1: Increasing interest in Bitshares in Korea and lowering entry barrier
Stage 2: Increasing attention of developers and investors
Stage 3: Discovering developers and recommending them as delegates

Item
Stage 1: Translation, community support
Stage 2: Light development (phython script, etc.), Contacting exchanges to adopt Bitshares
Stage 3: Recriuting core developers, proceeding main development to enhance value of Bitshares

Expected Cost
Stage 1: $30~200 / month
Stage 2: $100~500 / month
Stage 3: $300~3000 / month

Entering next stage depends on the price of BTS, since budget I have is quit limited. These stages will be proceeded as cumulative, that is, Stage 3 includes Stage 1~2.

(My first project is translating Bitshares wallet into Korean. It may cost $25 BitUSD)
