BTSX from PTS snapshot that exchange holds. Trading IOUs for btsx that will be allocated to keys the exchange owns.

i hope so, i cant believe we wait so long, and then see guys "short" it (kinda) as soon as the trade is available before we know anything. on the same hand maybe why i shouldnt buy them up either...
Waited and talked so much about that whole thing to people that i cant run, they already think i need a tinfoil hat when i talk about this stuff. this is where we always say dont be emotional too when buying/selling. hope it goes well. you know so many people are deeply pleased inside no matter if they admit it or criticize. the treachery you guys went through to get here. thanks for all the hard work.

It's hard for me to imagine a profitable business pulling a trick like not adjusting the number of BitShares they're selling people for the supply increase to 2 billion.
But, you guys have me concerned now because I have bought some BTSX from there, so I just reached out to them.
I'll let you know how they respond.
UPDATE: They responded damn near immediately:
Your listing seem to be based on 4,000,000 total BTSX, but the BitShares team just increased the number to 2,000,000,000.
If i buy BTSX from your exchange, am I buying 1 BitShares regardless of how many there are on release, or will you adjust the number to match the change?

Gotta say, I really don't mind waiting for less confirmations. Interface is pretty nice, going to have to compare withdrawal fees to cryptsy-- but if the price is right I think I might be sold.

Since number of Bitshare X in circulation goes down over time (it is only 2 billion at start), It would be better and more accurate for exchanges and http://coinmarketcap.com/ (needs to be notified) to display current supply of BTSX dynamically using a Bitshares X api call.

wait so the price didnt crash, why such a low point then?, i came here to say that i guess since i bought early from all the dumpers who wanted to get off ship ended up being a bad move. and my stash dropped by half

Just for those who don't know (I didn't), BTSX withdrawal is disabled on Bter until release. D'uh, but I didn't think about that.

yea withdrawals are disabled because there is nothing to withdraw to yet.
BTER knows they're going to get x% of BTSX because they were holding y PTS at the time of the snapshot, so they're letting their customers trade the percentage of BTSX they know they're getting internally.

Yes. It is effectively like a futures market derivative. You can trade something that hasn't been delivered yet. It's nice to see some price discovery though.

yep, and it's their customers that are doing the trading. when the product is released, they give the appropriate amounts out to people based on the balances they have after all the trades, then start allowing withdrawals and deposits.

it may not be real though. with all the being super clear about withdraw your pts before the snapshot, only those not in the know would have left their pts on the exchange. that means they're trading what's probably a tiny percentage of the supply.
i wouldn't be surprised to see the price drop immediately on release.
i wouldn't be surprised to see me buying on the way down either.

And marinecoin's 97.2% premine is stored in an ice cold vault in Antarctica. It will take something like 1000 years for the remainder to be mined. I asked them and they weren't all that sure where the waterfront real estate and mega-yacht would be located. They said it may well be in Antarctica. But the marinecoin tower will be somewhere in New York, once people who take the bus tour decide on a location. Hopefully, there's no Kool-aid on the bus tour. marinecoin sounds like a sane choice and a rip-roaring ride for anyone looking to diversify.
