General Discussion / Re: POS on a momentum

Yep, in that technological arms race they invested a lot of money, and some received significant funding from business partners. The latest arrival of chips and their rig setup isn't paid for yet. They made profit in the past, but they want to continue and they need to get out of there with pockets full of BTC before they can pull the plug (and pay back the investments their business partners made). The big institutional miners won't leave anytime soon.

Just want to be sure I understand fully the concept of the voting/inactivity fee...

Let's say I buy a few BTSX worth of bitUSD and sell those bitUSD back for BTSX once a year, does that cast my votes twice and reset the "inactivity clock" for each transaction?

Technical Support / Re: Is it possible to buy BTSX with...

Another option presented itself. If a friend wanted to buy my coins and use his CC to buy BTC or BTSX, how would that be done? Basically how would you go about buying BTSX with a visa, amex etc?

BTW, I find it difficult to obtain this type of info from the exchange websites, looking at bter.com right now.

Last BTC purchase I did was using localbitcoins (very recently), much easier than getting verified through an exchange and it went very smoothly. Had my BTCs in a matter of hours, but be careful and do your own research about the person you're dealing with. There's an interesting rating feature, so you can see how many succesful deals the guy did and if there were any unsatisfied client.

That's not an investment advice, simply another possibility for you to look at. You have to make your own research, evaluate the risks/benefits and make your own decision.

Other Languages / Re: France (Français)

Right, but there's nothing keeping them from taking their Bitcoin and investing in Bitshares... More productive than bitching about it... And much more profitable  ;)
you forgot the
[not-an-investment-advice-(tm)]  ;)

Right! Everything that I say engages me and only me, I'm not giving any investment advice and my opinion is only my opinion haha  ;) (but still, I'm bullish about Bitshares anyway hehe)

If you bought bitcoin at >$600, you don't want to see post any crypto innovations better than bitcoin

Right, but there's nothing keeping them from taking their Bitcoin and investing in Bitshares... More productive than bitching about it... And much more profitable  ;)

Marketplace / Re: 50000 DNS shares for sell
« on: September 15, 2014, 05:26:34 pm »
Don't want to be the messenger of bad news, but there's no way you're going to get 1 DNS for 1 BTSX.

There were 2bn BTSX issued (not counting those burnt since then) and there's going to be 5bn DNS shares (2bn AGS, 2bn PTS and 1bn dev fund). That means that by giving you 50000BTSX for 50000DNS, you value DNS (even before it has hit the market) at 2.5x the value of Bitshares-X.

Just saying...

General Discussion / Re: BTSX Valuation based upon standard P/E ratio of 20.
« on: September 12, 2014, 01:31:21 pm »
... I expect to see at least 0.30 per share a year from now.
0.30 denoted in BTC, USD, EUR, or CNY?

USD

That's approximately 8 times the current value, and give BTSX a valuation of 600M$. That's kind of bullish, but not unseen in the crypto-world. Knowing the quality of the product/features offered and the quality of the devs supporting the whole project, nothing's impossible! It's all about appealing to the masses and deep pocketed investors...

Good for you all if your stake in BTSX is large enough to be rich if it catches on  8)

I certainly won't get rich but might be able to switch to part time work, or a job that is less demanding of my time. May even be able to make a go of working in crypto.

On my part since I lost almost all my small BTC investment in the MtGox demise (except for 1 BTC, invested totally in PTS/AGS, after the feb. 28th snapshot, and then in BTSX just after the DNS/Vote snapshot), I won't get anywhere near being able to do anything special with my gains lol.

Not too late to invest more in promising DACs though! Too late for the "get in early, get rich", but I don't mind. I didn't expect to stop working before I'm 70 (not yet 30, so I've got a long way to go haha). And I have a good job, so no financial worries anyway!

I see Bitshares as a very interesting experiment I like to follow and participate in, so if I can make a few bucks in the process that's good, but I'm not expecting to get rich.

I like to see early investors getting wealthy though, that's quite inspiring. I'm not envious (not my type), and it's fun to see that hard working people and early believers get their dues.

Cheers!

General Discussion / Re: Is Anyone Still Holding Bitcoin?
« on: September 12, 2014, 12:07:37 pm »
I have been diversified to every shitcoin that was coming out and obviously lost...I have then decided that I should just stick with the only coin that has some economic fundamentals... Today I just sold my last NXTs which I bought when it was at 60-70 mil market cap (I am pretty sure NXT will double by tomorrow...)

As you said in a earlier post, you're a bag holder so I guess it will explode as soon as you get out of there haha! No worries though, I was in BTC last fall when it was at 100$ per BTC and got out (why, who knows?!) and it exploded a few weeks later to more than a 1000$. Then I got screwed by MtGox and lost almost my whole investment. So I'm quite familiar with the feeling of holding an empty bag...
