A few minutes ago, creating an asset cost me 100BTSX, now it's 246BTSX, why is that and what's the rule?
BTW, it seems that I can not create any asset, so it's not like Bitshares ME?
Thanks

Fees to create an asset is proportional to transaction fees paid. Transaction volume is increasing so fees are going up.
What asset can you not create?

I tried a few names, none of them works. The error information is:
RPC Server Error: In method 'wallet_asset_create': Assert Exception (10)

Send me a PM with the assets you wanted to create and I will look into it.

Are we able to create to create new asset types on the fly now? I though there were a fixed set of them.

I think we can, if you go to directory-assets, you can see quite a few assets with strange names...

Ok Im compiling the client now (first time in ages) - but if we can create new assets, wont that pollute the blockchain and the gui ?
I always thought that the original plan of having BitGold, BitUSD and BitBTC as the set of assets in the first chain was the most elegant plan, as they represent the three generations of money.

I paid 2,341 to register LTBc - Is that high? I really have no idea how to even value my holdings of Bitshares lol.

I offered you an easy solution- trade me all your BTSX at 1:1 for LTB coins. I will pay your 2,341 LTB reg. fee.
-
huh? I'm just commenting that its 10x as high as the discussion at the beginning of this thread and there are few assets listed.
-
Check out btsx at bter for proximate absolute valuation. No idea about relative costs though (:
-
wait so is Bitshares me the asset creation portion?
is the only way to make money with the assets via shorts?
wasn't Bitshares me suppose to be for people to offer an ipo in their entrepreneurial venture or something?
-
I was able to create an asset quite easily
LTB LTBc LTBcoin is the Rewards Token of LetsTalkBitcoin.com
-
Right, I guess I just don't understand the economic aspect of it. Ok so by creating an asset what is in it for you and how do you make money as the issuer of the asset?
I notice that someone created the LOVE asset. lol

Once you have a token, it can be traded (in theory) and can be made valuable by the person creating it. Like our LTBcoin rewards program, which you can read about at http://ltbcoin.com

I think I'm going to create an asset or two then and maybe even a prediction that people can trade on. :)

Now it is 76,700 BTSX to create an asset. Wow that has gone up fast.

Do user-created assets get removed after a while if there is no market interest? What if someone creates an asset called BitSpam ?

User-issued assets are not BitAssets. Users can "make" BitAssets, but BitAssets without significant market depth do not trade.

There are two threads on this... I answered this in another thread.

Thanks for the response, but what kind of things/concepts do users issue as assets? Is there a list somewhere of user-issued assets vs BitAssets ?

Thanks xeroc, I just found your "Free" asset:
ID SYMBOL NAME DESCRIPTION ISSUER ISSUED SUPPLY
===========================================================================================================================================================
27 FREE Free Free as in beer xeroc 100.00 % 100,000,000,000,000. FREE
So as it says they are 100% issued, that means that they dont come into existance by the buy & short mechanism?
What are you going to do with those FREE units ?
Sorry for all the questions today...

Hi BM, can I modify the asset information (ie. total supply ) after creating it?

Especially, since according to toast it was something that was supposed to be fixed and apparently it wasn't fixed for the
bit BTSX debut. The way it is presented when you create the an asset is not clear.
-
It will have to be in a hard fork, and we may only allow changing some of the parameters. The goal is to minimize fraud caused by changing the description of the asset.
I believe we will allow users to edit the information provided they have not issued any yet. So if you would like to update your asset, don't issue them and then the hardfork will be easier.
-
Wallet UI will be fixed for next release, so it will be clear for new assets.
Sometime in the future we will allow assets with 0 current supply to have the precision/supply adjusted.

This would be very very great. I have created an asset but the UI errors (v1.0) then I used the console to create one, it worked fine but I haven't input the correct parameter on the number and description. I haven't issue any assets yet. I will wait for the update.
