General Discussion / Re: how do you transfer from bter to bitsharesx wallet?
« on: September 08, 2014, 10:58:53 pm »
How do I become registered if I don't have any bitsharesx in the wallet?

Bter's policy of only allowing withdrawals to registered accounts is probably holding back BTSX adoption.

Good luck with your site ;)

Care to say what it's about?

Muse/SoundDAC / BitUSD used to buy artistcoins?
« on: September 07, 2014, 09:56:38 pm »
According to http://peertracks.com/faq.html artistcoins can be bought using BitUSD.

BitUSD is on a different blockchain than Bitshares Music, so can someone explain the link between them? Do I open my BTSX wallet and send BitUSD to peertracks, and then it credits me with snoop dog coins?

Also, is peertracks.com basically an easy to use frontend to Bitshares Music, so that users dont need to download the wallet or know anything about crypto?

You work really fast - well done!

So is some of the BitUSD transaction fees used for the insurance fund, and the rest used for interest?

If so then should the formula should be updated to:

ACCOUNT_BALANCE / BIT_ASSET_SUPPLY  *  TOTAL_ACCUMULATED_FEES * PERCENT_OF_YEAR_HELD * INTEREST_INSURANCE_RATIO
?

Bytemaster did admit that he was trying to invent the first crypto-currency around the same time that Bitcoin appeared :)

Very nice site svk.

About the "shorts range" highlighted region, is that the +/- 10% median price rule ?

Thank you! It is indeed based off the 10% rule and the avg price, not sure if it should be the median rather but they're quite close anyway.

If enough delegates announce a feed (>51) than the "1hr moving average" is defined as the median of the feeds .. (which is not really correct terminology)
if less then 51 feeds are available the 'real' 1hr moving average will be calculated using the market itself.

so the +-10% should always be around the 1hr moving avr.. (which is identical to the feed if 51+ delegates announced a feed)

that's my understanding

I find it hard to keep up with all the rule changes, so I really appreciate sites like yours that give visual clues as to what I need to know to trade.

Perhaps some tooltips would help to explain what the significance of the short range is? This explanation from xeroc kind of proves why this is needed.

On the other hand, I think BTC will rally when an ETF inevitably goes live.

What do you mean by this ?

He is referring to the Winklevoss twins' Bitcoin ETF fund. On the other hand it might cause BTC to drop because it might just be a way for them to dump their coins. Who knows.

One solution I use when it is stuck is to just delete the chain and re-sync. Only takes a few minutes. Are you running version 0.4.12 ?

DONT delete your .BitsharesX/wallets folder, and DO backup your wallet!!!

I still don't understand how we are supposed to earn interest when we have the inactivity fees at the same time. Can we just send our assets to ourselves and problem solved?

Or how about inactivity fees get scrapped? Seriously whats the point of them. It makes cold storage a nightmare.

I want to braindump my current thoughts...

On the one hand, I want to convert the rest of my BTC into BTSX.

On the other hand, I think BTC will rally when an ETF inevitably goes live.

So far I've been dollar cost averaging for the past few weeks.

Decisions, decisions...

If BTC does rally, BTSX will rally automatically as well, because they are linked. Go all in!

Technical Support / Re: !!! Stupid Questions Thread !!!

I like this thread. Here is my question:

Are there any more trading gui screenshots? Sure would be nice to see some more.

I have been holding back from trading until the gui gives a more detailed picture of the market.

Also, I really like the way svk has done the "Shorts range" on his block explorer site, which shows what prices below the median we are allowed to short at. This should be in the trading gui.

General Discussion / Re: Interest on BitUSD - A Proposal for Review

What about the original idea of shorters paying interest to the longs - is that lo longer workable? I always thought that was nice and simple because you could charge a fixed amount from shorters relative to how long the short position was open for.

Im on RC2 and it shows the median at the top which is nice. Still would be even better to show it on the graph as well.

The overlapping has now stopped, I cant figure out if that is because of the new median-limit rule, or if its because the demand for BitUSD has increased.
