For a myriad of reasons purchasing your own currency with investor money does not seem wise.

General Discussion / Re: Suggestion: BitUSD -> USD Ripple Gateway.
« on: August 22, 2014, 04:56:41 am »
Stellar a long way off from having properly functioning gateways.  The client doesn't even facilitate them, the order book or the trustlines that make it work.  If you want to build a gateway, build it for Ripple.  There'll also be way more USD.bitstamp:USD.bitasset liquidity from the beginning via Ripple's auto bridging feature.  The biggest hurdle that most gateways experience is the initial liquidity between XRP and the IOU that the gateway issues.

General Discussion / New to BitsharesX - some questions
« on: August 22, 2014, 04:22:50 am »
I'm new to BitsharesX, but have a really good understanding of other 2.0 projects like Ripple, Nxt, Counterparty, etc.  I have a few questions about BTSX:

1) What is the transaction speed?
2) How many BitAssets will a single blockchain be expected to support?
3) Who decides which BitAssets are issued on which blockchain?
4) Will all BitAssets be collateralized by BTSX?  If so, what is the mechanism that keeps the price tracking the underlying asset?

A good (and simple) FAQ would be very helpful as a lot of the existing documentation is quite dense to read.  If you want noobs to jump on board, make it easy for them.

General Discussion / Re: API?

It crashes during sync on lower spec machines, at least from my very small sample set of 1 low spec machine and three or four "current" spec machines.

I'm not on a low end machine.  The problem arises with the latest version of the client download file.  There are many reports of the same on this forum.  No matter.  I'll wait for a fix.

celtic, download this and copy paste it in the appdata/roaming/bitsharesx/bin folder

https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/raw/master/CrashRpt/bin/CrashRpt1402.dll

Thanks Lucky, but I'll wait for the download file to be fixed.  I don't have time to waste on other people's buggy software.  I have waaaay too much of my own to deal with..:)

There is an RPC interface within the wallet that you can poll and run any command within the wallet with

It would be a good start to have a wallet that would download without crashing.  That's why I asked about a public API.

Is there a publicly accessible API from which market data for BitAssets can be pulled?

Same problem here.  When will the download file on the website be fixed?
