BitShares AGS / ags donation in early march
« on: August 27, 2014, 01:04:14 am »
I donated btc for ags in the beginning of march (after the btsx snapshot) - on which snapshots am I and was I participating?

BitUSD requires a liquid market...... right now BitUSD is the best hedge against a falling BTSX because it is cheaper than $1 USD due to all the demand to short.

What we need are tools that show the arbitrage opportunities... and people willing to accept profits from arbitrage as more reliable than gains in BTSX.

to be fair it will be arbitrageurs paradise. maybe it is best to sit out the dump now, wait for a somewhat stabilisation, talk to the exchanges that they set bitusd/altcoin markets and let it emerge more organically.

btsx is on a pump since the 0.00004 region

General Discussion / Re: How is BitUSD going to work?

maybe I do not get it properly but it is worth a question:

starting point:

I think the current price of BitsharesX is for some reason high/sufficiently high and I am planning to short

assumptions:

I have the possibility to sell bitsharesX on an exchange for USD
I have the possibility to ask BitUsd for BitsharesX on the decentralized exchange within the system
My preference order at this point of time is for obvious reasons USD > BitUSD - acceptance, possibility to buy/sell other coins, etc pp. ( I see that this could potentially change in the future but I think at this point of time this is a rational assumption)

question:

what is the incentive to ask bitusd if the possibility to sell on an exchange exists at this point of time

No incentive, feel free to sell BTSX externally.

is there another reason to ask on the decentralized exchange than to expect decreasing external prices of bitsharesX?

my question was by no means meant confrontative - I am just wondering why the ask side should work - e.g. what the incentive for asking is

General Discussion / Re: AGS Funds to be used to buy BTSX

how many do you plan to buy?

not sure if I like this move but anyway

We don't want to telegraph *that* much... but what ever we feel will make a proper balance of risk/reward.  At least 100 BTC for starters.

I think if you really want to do it properly you should catch volatility instead of driving the price massively up

General Discussion / Re: A Call to the Truthcoin Prediction Market

any updates on this?

I think this one of the most promising ideas in crypto - to get an anonymous prediction market bootstrapped is like bootstrapping trading reality, with all his up- and downsides.
