Technical Support / Re: Dropdown Menu Unreadable on Ubuntu
« on: June 14, 2017, 06:10:54 am »
With ButShares2-light installed on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS the dropdown menus appear as all black rectangles with no readable labels. I am able to randomly select items from the menu, but without being able to read the labels it is unusable.

Is there a way to fix this?
It's a bug. You can use arrows up & down and you will be able to see all the choices as they get highlighted in the main window.

This is nothing yet. Just wait until DEX becomes #1 exchange in the world by volume. In last few days we jumped from some 180K+ accounts to over 240K and that's just the beginning of DEX discovery.

153
You mean to tell me it's not on the DEX yet!!???

Seems that Matt ties his multi million dollar game to BitShares. I am guessing it has something to do with the newly created coin KARMAKOIN which is supposedly backed up by 1 OZ of gold 1:1. He also has a very expensive taste (Lambos and Ferraris) so I guess he really needs that steady flow of $50K coming in...

sahkan-bitshares June 2017 Witness Update:

I have updated my witness node to the latest (2 JUN 2017), and utlized all RAM savings that the Devs have been working on for the past few weeks.

The latest update on my full node is 5-31-17 (tagged release by @abit ), the RAM usage is now over 17GB.
Web wallet updated to the latest 2.0.170522 (remember to back up your wallet!)
- You can access the web wallet here:  https://dexnode.net
- If you are already using a light or web wallet and need another api server to improve the performance, add my api server: wss://dexnode.net/ws (in SETTINGS, ACCESS)

An average usage on the server is 30+ web wallets and 60+ websocket connections for the Light Wallets.

Both seed nodes updated to the latest Tag release.

« on: June 04, 2017, 11:41:35 pm »

Friends, I'm sure that I need to earn $ 1,000,000 this summer.
Therefore I want to borrow from you 100 000 dollars. For the full amount I'll buy bitshares.
And when, at the end of summer 1BTS = 1 $, I will give you money.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Please send me $ as soon as possible.

My full node runs at 16.5GB RAM now. (It's on the 96GB RAM dedicated server)

Is this using the latest core release?

Yes, it was at 16.9GB RAM before the update.

Great work! I updated my nodes to the latest.

They're probably running their own node. I wouldn't be surprised if they ran into memory issues, as currently the needed memory scales up linearly with the total number of blocks. You currently need over 12GB of RAM. There's an issue about it here: https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-core/issues/192
On a full node the memory requirement is now around 16GB, but why is that an issue? You can have servers with 516GB, and I am sure Poloniex can afford a server or 2 for BTS (if they set it up right, they should have a full node with a delayed node).

Technical Support / Re: Bitshares not showing correct balance

Ok, I found it in Acount -> Open Orders
But it still not in My Open Orders in Exchange tab
I reported that issue on github, needs a fix.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [Vote Proposal] Dynamic Fee System
« on: May 27, 2017, 04:18:18 am »
It seems that everyone continues to peg DEX to USD. Why not CNY? My point being that DEX runs on BitShares ecosystem and though I understand the relationship of BTS to USD, we should stick with BTS as that's what gives it value. If we relate everything to bitUSD, why even have BTS? The danger of using some bitUSD : BTS ratio is that if ever anyone can manipulate BTS to be worth $.0000000001, anything that uses BTS from the reserve pool will run it dry in a matter of minutes (unlikly though, I'm just showing an extreme example here..)

I also understand that we want to have stable fees etc., I believe if we can find balance in the BTS ecosystem among witness pay, worker pay and fees, we should be able to run DEX based on BTS only with a healthy reserve pool.
