General Discussion / Re: Status of Ethereum
« on: December 30, 2014, 04:15:50 am »
1. A modified version of hashimoto PoW for 1.0, plans to move to slasher PoS for 1.1

I didn't realize that ethereum we're going to proof of stake.
Doesn't this give our approach a lot more credibility?

24 )   nice good looking and info oriented  website for ordinary users to know more about BTS .

Oh, wait .......There is already one .   www.AboutBTS.com

That's a good site. I didn't know that existed.

I think i heard BM say that end of january was the expected date in one of the mumbles.
We'll get there, its more important that the team get it right IMO.

Have a drink, its Christmas ;)

General Discussion / Re: Canadian bitgold

Did you see that "Notably, the man behind Soros Brothers Investments is Alexander Soros, the son of billionaire investor George Soros"

I tweeted StandStorm to say that they should make their phys exchangeable to our BitGold. See if we get a reply.

These kind of services are not competitors to BTS. They're gateways, and we could benefit greatly from them integrating with bitshares and issuing their IOUs on our blockchain.

Maybe they would make bitGOLD directly exchangeable for their bitgold, like btc38 accepting bitCNY as equivalent to CNY.  It would reward them with purchases from BitShares users, and reward BitShares by having the bitGOLD backed by their bitgold.

bitreserve could do the same thing.

Now i like that idea. I think that could have legs.

My ID on the blockchain is a nice idea that should catch on.

I liked this guys comment .... "But I like how bitshares aims to become the decentralized infrastructure that the crypto community runs on without having to rely on centralized entities. If this is made user friendly enough it could begin to compete with the centralized and anti-privacy incumbents such as Facebook, even on convenience."

Another great idea from Bitshares

General Discussion / Re: What's the realistic BTS potential?
« on: December 24, 2014, 05:51:32 pm »
If we reach a market cap 10x what we have now, each fully paid delegate will be earning 30 000$ a month. That means we can have potentially 100 teams of people all around the world working on developing, designing and promoting BitShares.

If we can hit a critical mass like this (it could even be less) and sustain it for awhile, then this thing is "game over". Continued growth will be inevitable and no one else will be able to compete.

I think that critical mass is the key. I just read the book on Amazon and it just sums up the concept beautifully. Once the word is out there and we have some on/off ramps i just cant imagine why you wouldnt want bitassets.

On/off ramps are a must in my opinion. I know its easier said than done.
It all comes back to ease of use though. If i can swipe a debit card to spend/save it then it sells itself.

I think i heard someone mention that we are trying to get included on the BTC ATMs and there was a debit card in the works.

I think it's a mistake to introduce too many political overtones. .... Politics divides people, it does not draw them together. If you want the most people on your side, then those who get it will come seeing the potential; and let others come mistaking what it will do for them.

.....  I would suggest more that the vision is about empowering individuals and allowing them control and opportunity.

GOOD POINT  +5% +5% +5%

On the flip side, how many people backed ron paul at the last election - 1 million? With the Rand Paul coin it might get us some publicity.

General Discussion / We need to talk about what our battle plan is
« on: December 22, 2014, 04:14:37 am »
Hi,

From listening to bytemaster's mumble on the 19th it sounds like the 1.0 will be ready at the end of january, at least i think thats when the lightweight client to scheduled to be released.

So, my 2 cents is that now Brian is no longer with us and it is up to all of us to push/promote bitshares i think we need a battle plan - a essentially a list of tasks or ideas that need to be completed so that we dont all duplicate effort and look unprofessional.

I'm not really technical, so i am willing to step up and put my hat in the ring to do other stuff but i there needs to be a at least some sort of loose structure so that the message is consistent, polished and not duplicated.

Thoughts?

General Discussion / Share buy back or dilution?
« on: December 22, 2014, 04:01:36 am »
I just wondered if there has ever been any talk regarding the number of Bitshares in existence and if bytemaster has ever spoken about/envisages circumstances where there could be a dilution or share buy back of the number of shares in existence.

Thanks for your work fuzzy

I should add:

Easy fiat onramps from USD into both BTS and bitUSD.

Excellent point + a workable debit card for bitUSD
