'scape crew ... nice.   8)

Thanks for making it possible, 'scape crew. I tweeted about it too but I didn't link my referral ID... oops.  https://twitter.com/robrig0/status/557431664033275906
Are you @cryptofresh on Twitter?

I actually don't know who got the cryptofresh twitter handle, but it looks to be someone from the community ;)

If someone is squatting that for us, please get in touch!

Bummed i missed this, but really glad for the audio!  :D

Slick job on the site! Those are some great marketing points. I enjoyed being able to buy something tangible with bitGOLD and thought the checkout process was slick.

I'm pretty sure you're the first human in the history of the world to buy a T-Shirt with BitGOLD... :D

And you were the first person to purchase a T-Shirt from our store!

We'll have to hack together a framed digital LED 'BitGOLD' note for posterity.

What it is

Internet money,
digital exchange,

10 second transactions across the globe
anyone can use it for free,
open and accessible to everyone,
no personal information required,

like bitcoin,
and yet not volatile

How it works

Like torrent,
Like wikipedia,

everyone can share and contribute,
open to everyone,
no single point of authority

Usefulness

Visa, PayPal, Banks are central authorities
they have all your personal information
they charge much higher fees
they are much slower

internet revolutionized how information was transferred,
this new technology revolutionizes how money and value is transferred.

+5%  Yes!  clearly worded, accessible comparisons, and no heavy concepts to unpack.

This elevator is starting to feel a little less confining.  :)

I couldn't resist posting this here after today's mumble session where Fuzzy mentioned the phrase "shine a light into the dark"

Dustin is a friend of mine, I've thought about him as a natural fit for BitShares Music, and also as someone capable of knocking it out of the park with a song for us.. :)

I think the following points are critical in an elevator pitch to a "non crypto enthusiast".

1. Transfer any amount of money to anyone in the world - securely and almost instantly, for a few pennies per transaction. (Modify the cost part as BTS price changes over time).

2. No middlemen, IOUs or pending transactions.

3. Every transaction can be audited, by anyone, at any time.

4. Save your wealth in the value of real world assets and earn real interest - without having to trust anyone.

5. As a one-of-a-kind decentralized network, it is a safe haven from bad actors, bad governments and bad economies.

BitAssets give you instant, total and singular control of your wealth. No one can take it away from you and you earn interest immediately. Store BILLIONS or spend a few a bucks - all with the same speed, safety and control.

If we're really talking elevator speech here, and i think we are, it's meant to be aimed at folks who are not necessarily in the crypto world, so more of the above is needed.

We need to take these above points and carve them into carefully sculpted neurolinguistic amusement park rides for the imagination which make people want to take the ride!

Then we need digital & paper calling cards, with all the best next steps, further down the funnel towards the client, with actionable steps, and meetup invites, and cocktail hour and calls to ACTION.

What's your elevator pitch?

Engineering distributed, fault-tolerant, self-organizing, trustless systems
using a continuously reconfiguring ring of transparently auditable signing agents
selected and monitored by reputation-based stakeholder consensus
in a fully-decentralized delegated proof of stake network.

Seems to work.  No one ever has any questions.  :)

If this were my elevator pitch...
that elevator would either be in Blacksburg VA, or everyone would be eyes glazed over

No questions indeed!

I'll work on translating each of those points to human readable language! ;)

Those of you who like to write!  Share your own words on BitShares.
Pick an angle, any angle: social, technical, political, and write about it!

Share your results with the community if you need some editing, and publish where you see fit.

We can continue to share the good word while Bytemaster codes with all his might. :)

I was just going to create a thread with the same title, but since hpenvy was unsurprisingly pondering this question in November, let's do the 'ol thread bump.   :D

I have been working on my elevator / cafe / cocktail hour pitch for a while.. I seem to be getting across some good information but I want to sharpen my chops in this regard, because we have a lot of people to reach as quickly as possible.

So please let's community crowdsource the killer lines to get our messages across as efficiently as possible.

I was at a cafe today and a young lady asked me what I do for a living...

One of the most common questions I ask in response to this is "do you know about Bitcoin?"  And although this is helpful sometimes I'd like to avoid this if possible, since if they haven't then they feel immediately uninformed, and also because well, frankly... droves of people in the day to day world have not heard of Bitcoin... Amazing I know, but we live in a crypto tech bubble and we have to face the facts.  If they have heard of bitcoin, they'll say so by the time you've finished your elevator speech.

I usually go with something to the effect of: I'm working on a project to make banks obsolete by allowing ordinary people to control their financial fortunes through a new technology which allows you to store, or send value to anyone in the world in ten seconds. (then if I have a few more seconds I might say) It's a global, decentralized network, which allows you to move your funds between different currencies and earn interest on your savings.

What's your elevator pitch?

Haha, that's exactly right.  :D

Standing on the precipice before the abyss, reading cryptic how-to manuals, and then having to walk confidently out into the unknown.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels like Dr. Jones in that scene..!  Maybe it's really delegated proof of faith.. ;)
