Stakeholder Proposals / Who we are, really
« on: January 02, 2015, 04:40:25 am »
Who we are we, really.

Greetings, I’m Brandon Lovejoy, Delegate bits on our beloved BitShares blockchain.  From this point forward I’ll be known as bitscape in the forums and elsewhere online.  I’m an entrepreneur, strategist, artist, and tech enthusiast.  My background is in film and audio production, grassroots organizing, politics, tea, sailing, and more.  A linux enthusiast since 1995,  I believe that free software is a fundamental requirement for a free society, and that the blockchain may well signify the next stage in the evolution of our species.  To me, BitShares is the torch of freedom for the digital age, and with the help of our amazing community, I will do everything in my power to advance it.

Hi! I’m roadkill, henceforth known as roadscape, or Tim. I’m a generalist, creative problem solver, and strategist. I’d like to see blockchain tech as the cornerstone of a freer, safer, and more efficient society. My first taste of programming was in 1998 when I started to hand-copy code samples from my dad’s VB5 book. By 2003 I was writing IM, IRC, and HTTP clients/servers/bots; decidedly hooked on coding for the web. Since then, I’ve worked on web apps/design, server administration, and mobile apps. Relevant skills include content optimization, research & teaching concepts, design, event photography, and general mischief. The internet has become a battlefield and BitShares is our weapon of peace.

Stakeholder Proposals / Team Bitscape - media & development
« on: January 02, 2015, 04:39:40 am »
Greetings friends and allies of the BitShares Community.

Happy New Year...  It’s 2015!
The Year of BitShares!

This is the first of a seven part proposal.

Table of Contents

  • Who we are, really.
  • Our Vision
  • Mission, Strategy, Tactics
  • Financial Plan
  • Fields of Action
  • TL;DR - Summary

We write to you as the proposed delegate team media.bitscape

Over the past few months we have been hard at work laying the foundations for a grassroots media campaign aimed at igniting interest in BitShares among the masses of early adopters yet to be reached, and fueling the fire which will see BTS ‘cross the chasm’ into wide adoption.  We will elaborate on those plans in a moment, but first...

A hearty thank you to all who have contributed their herculean efforts to this grand vision thus far!
And especially for Dan, and his merry crew, who have not wavered in that vision even at the most challenging of moments.

2015 is going to be a strong showing from this community... I can feel it!

Here's the wikipedia on the CEO of bitreserve, Halsey Minor
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halsey_Minor

Apparently he's into filing lawsuits. He currently has a number of outstanding cases as well as cases against him. Also, he filed chapter 7 bankruptcy less than 2 years ago (May 2013).... looks like he supposedly owes over 10 million in taxes to California.

"As of 2012 the state of California listed Halsey as the #1 on the list of the state's Top 250 Delinquent Taxpayers"

I would not risk trusting this guy as the counterparty for my investment with this kind of liability hanging over his head.

LOL, wow! this guy...  If you read the Wikipedia entry you see a pretty clear pattern to his public life thus far.  --> Plays big, wins, loses bigger... repeat.  He has left a wake of unfinished projects, mansions in disrepair, hotels stuck in limbo, expensive artwork unpaid for, and on and on... what are the odds this will end any differently?

On the other hand, the guy is ultra litigious and volatile.  So, the wise money is on slow and steady wins the race.  IMO we avoid direct confrontation of any kind and just let him act out, what might very well be his final epic implosion.  It's just a shame it will harm those who are lured in and spit out.

Great detective work on the trademarks!  We do need to cover our ass to the extent necessary / possible.

I agree, visual storytelling is much more communicative than text.  I'm getting myself ready to make some great videos in support of BTS.  If no one gets to it before me I will definitely work on the production of such a video!  About to launch a new media delegate team, details forthcoming.  :)

Awesome!  (as in I am filled with awe)

Although some of the technical details are lost to me the conceptual implications are scintillating!

I think we just went to Crypto 3.0. :)

Your blog may very well do more to help BitShares grow than anything else I've seen thus far.

I agree with some of the edit suggestions above, ie.. sans 'tons of money' etc.

BUT i wholeheartedly believe it is tactically wise (and honest) to forge ahead with your passionate rhetoric.

I'm primarily involved here because this is a paradigm shift in our global socio-political possibilities, and I know there are many more who are similarly motivated, not just libertarians, but a multitude of others.

Words like these from the heart will be immensely helpful in reaching those early adopters who will be in for the long haul.
Thanks for ever bearing the torch forward!

Speaking of delegates and referral programs... I need to find a smart way to implement a referral program through face to face meetups which I am organizing.  I am confident that any abuse of an 'in person' implementation will be extremely low.

I want to make it easy for folks to get their accounts activated, and reward them for doing so, and for referring their friends (who create accounts) to the meetup.  To the extent possible, track the numbers of people brought into the network in this manner. ie. Metrics to show the effectiveness of face to face marketing would be helpful.

I'm not a super technical delegate so I could use some help developing such a program.

What do you suppose would be the clean, accountable way of doing this?
Also assuming an n% paid delegate if that helps the implementation.  :)

I like the UI on BTER better, or maybe I'm just used to it, however the volume is quite low compared to BTC38, which the Chinese community seems to favor, unless i'm mistaken.  I had to create a Facebook account (which i despise) just to use BTC38 though, and that keeps me from ever wanting to log in.  So.. bter.com it is, for me, for now.

Just my 2 Larimers  ;)
