Of course not, the only part of your post I disagreed with was the one where you called them competition

Of course not, the only part of your post I disagreed with was the one where you called them competition

"Competition" was my gut reaction, before reading the paper, to IBM becoming involved in this research (I am in the process of reading it now - and will overcome my gut if justified). I'm sure I will have the same gut reaction if I hear that Bill Gates wants to go open source (as in: yeah, what's the catch).
