I posted some honest answers. Hope you find them useful!

General Discussion / Re: Non Voting Accounts
« on: April 18, 2017, 06:22:32 pm »
Correct. There's no such thing as an account that can't vote.

We're lucky that large exchange accounts don't choose to selfishly influence voting with their large stakes.

General Discussion / Re: DEX Trading fees

Each coin's fee is deducted from its side of the trade. So you are right, the fees would both be applied in your example case.

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares price discussion

It's remarkable how stable BTS is to the USD, instead of tracking bitcoin's price, which most cryptos follow instead. Any thoughts on that?

Off the top of my head, here are a few:

Businesses: Transwiser has not been a scam. Blocktrades has not been a scam. MetaExchange has not been a scam.  OpenLedger has not been a scam (although some of its ICOs could be).

Workers: Svk, myself, Xeroc, cass, and others have run worker proposals that have not been scams.

At least we will never reach 100% rate of scams.  :) Good to see you posting, Ander!

Interesting thought. Can you think of any way to provably "lose" the keys to a wallet?

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Witnesses - please report in

24 is pretty short timeframe for response! Hopefully you reached out to them by a more direct message as well?

Looking forward to the replies. Thanks.

I agree with JonnyBitcoin. Payment in BitUSD would be nice, but I strongly prefer a trustless solution.

Thank you, Bitcrab, for creating the workers to collect voter sentiment on this issue, paying the fees at your own expense. We appreciate it.

General Discussion / Re: A blockchain inside a blockchain?

Interesting thought!

But I wonder this: couldn't the witnesses just run a bitcoin node instead? Is there a functional difference between watching the bitcoin chain, and copying it into the Bitshares chain to watch it there instead?

General Discussion / Re: Incentivize SmartCoin collateralization

What if they trade was one-way. You can only buy the coins from the blockchain. The 100% collateral from the buyer and 100% collateral from the blockchain were then burned. The only was to convert bitsud back to bts is to sell it on the exchange. Doing this increases the value of bts and increase the supply of bitusd.
But what happens if the value of BitUSD falls below $1?

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Proxy: bitcrab - make the ecosystem grow
« on: January 22, 2017, 06:41:18 am »
I recommend this proxy. Bitcrab has been around the community for a long time, and has consistently shown good business sense. His insight and expertise are valuable assets to Bitshares.

This thread has had a good response. I'm proud of our community. Thank you to all witnesses who have pledged 1M BTS as a token of dedication to the network.

The current system guarantees a predictable supply growth rate of BTS. If the blockchain issued smartcoins, BTS supply could be vulnerable to hyperinflation.
