DAC PLAY / Re: Sport Bets
« on: January 24, 2015, 04:55:59 pm »
No one to reply such a basic question as "Will Play support sport bets?". For a DAC under Bitshares brand, one would expect a minimum effort put into communication, especially during crowd funding.

They may be watching https://playtalk.org/ more closely. You could try asking over there.
So much for the BitShares Play...
Nevermind, I guess I'll just pass on that one.

They have a separate dev team, similar to the Music DAC. I think the suggestion to 3rd party DACs is to use "Powered by BitShares" instead of putting BitShares directly in the name to prevent this sort of confusion.

To answer your question I think that betting would be an easy use case, at least e-sports betting, but I don't know about official support or if it will be a 3rd party that launches such a service.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: New Delegates: Zach Lym Trial Week
« on: January 24, 2015, 07:38:03 am »
We had an awesome week, thanks to Zach for coming out. You should be seeing a detailed delegate proposal and .p2p roadmap soon.

I will buy bitUSD until I have 1,551 to cover what I couldn't cover from the remainder of the DNS dev fund, then I will continue running the delegate until I get back the registration fee. At that point I will either take this guy offline or make a new proposal if there is another dev we want for a trial.
soon?how soon?

The proposal / roadmap has been posted... check it out here.

Hey guys!

So I'm new to the bitsharespehere.  My name is Jake, and I'm running a company/project/organization called Dawn along with some other folks.  Here's what we do:  We take open source hardware, pair it with open source software, and create new kinds of services for our users.  We're currently selling an open MiniPC, and will shortly add Mammoth, a router to that lineup.

Very excited to speak with everyone tomorrow!

If you've any questions about us, please don't hesitate to ask!

Trezor's hardware is open source,
Trezor's firmware is open source,
BitShares is open source.

Sounds like a match made in heaven don't you think? Although at this point in time you would probably only sell a dozen or so of them. I would be willing to pay a lot more than $120 for a bitshares trezor.

+5% a bitshares hardware wallet like trezor or ledger would be amazing. I would definitely pre-order one.

Technical Support / Re: !!! Stupid Questions Thread !!!
« on: January 22, 2015, 04:35:52 am »
Now that 0.5.0 is out, how do I import my wallets from the Bitshares DNS and Bitshares Vote apps to claim my sharedrop amounts?

I know the command to get the sharedrop once the keys are in the Bitshares progam. I am just having trouble figuring out how to get my Mac OS client to connect with those other wallets in the first place. I exported both wallets as .json files. Is that the first step? Thanks.

Try using wallet_import_keys_from_json on an exported DAC wallet:

Code: [Select]
>> h wallet_import_keys_from_json

Usage:
wallet_import_keys_from_json <json_filename> <imported_wallet_passphrase> <account>                   Imports anything that looks like a private key from the given JSON file.
Imports anything that looks like a private key from the given JSON file.

Parameters:
json_filename (filename, required): the full path and filename of JSON wallet to import
imported_wallet_passphrase (passphrase, required): passphrase for encrypted keys
account (account_name, required): Account into which to import keys.

Returns:
  void

aliases: import_keys_from_json

ok cool can you explain comment about bitusd... shouldnt wallet be sent bitusd becase that is the asset name?

bitUSD is referred to as USD on the blockchain. The GUI names it bitUSD in the market, but in your account it is just USD.
Hmm so usd would show up in the pay to wallet dialog? Its not usd though it really is bitusd so why call it usd?
The gui calls it bitusd yet I cant pay by selecting "bitusd"?

bitUSD is the brand. USD is the asset identifier on the blockchain. From the console:

blockchain_list_assets USD

Code: [Select]
ID    SYMBOL NAME                    DESCRIPTION                                     ISSUER                          ISSUED    SUPPLY
===========================================================================================================================================================
22    USD    United States Dollar    1 United States dollar                          MARKET                          N/A       810,420.5383 USD

I've been working on pitching BitAssets integration to Casheer, a POS / mobile wallet solution under development. One of their founders asked our community to show support for the integration by posting over at their forum: https://twitter.com/haydentiff/status/558071374544392193

Please take a moment to register and post something over there; I already have a BTS thread started if you want to chime in.

General Discussion / Re: Account 'bter' please return funds
« on: January 22, 2015, 01:08:11 am »
Bter just should add a fat warning on their deposit site making you aware of the situation.
Also I'm surprised that it was possible to link that account so fast, did you find it with network analysis? Shouldn't titan make this much harder?

The guy wasn't exactly careful to cover his tracks, also we're phasing out TITAN specifically because of the false sense of security it gives at this point (well also because it makes the thin client much simpler).
My guess: contacted major exchanges, asked about who was receiving funds from "bter" account, associated them with their forum identity based on their exchange account name or email.

It would be good to explore excluding names from the suggestion list with a certain threshold of negative rep associated with them. Maybe make the reputation threshold relative based on the current average reputation.

So, if we all burned 1k BTS against "bter" they would no longer come up in the list because they're considered untrusted.

General Discussion / Re: Is web-wallet under development?

bitsapphire said they planned to release a DAC web wallet as well. Glad to see parallel efforts on both the web and mobile wallet fronts.

Slick job on the site! Those are some great marketing points. I enjoyed being able to buy something tangible with bitGOLD and thought the checkout process was slick.

I'm pretty sure you're the first human in the history of the world to buy a T-Shirt with BitGOLD... :D

And you were the first person to purchase a T-Shirt from our store!

We'll have to hack together a framed digital LED 'BitGOLD' note for posterity.

Thanks for making it possible, 'scape crew. I tweeted about it too but I didn't link my referral ID... oops.  https://twitter.com/robrig0/status/557431664033275906
