DAC PLAY / PTS wallet import
« on: April 05, 2015, 10:16:47 pm »
Received a successful wallet import notification in my Play wallet upon wallet.dat import.  Regardless of the positive PTS balance imported, I see no Play balance.  Any suggestions?  :)

I purchased some extra PTS from Cryptsy just to try and register my PTS account and transfer my old PTS wallet funds.  Unfortunately Cryptsy has not allowed PTS withdrawls for days now.  Back to the drawing board.  :(

Did you upgrade your old PTS client to v1.0.0.0 before trying the secure asset import? Others have reported difficulty trying to import from old v0.8.5.0.

Where would I find the Mac version of the v1.0.0.0 wallet?

BitSwift is a part of BlockNet.  Dan Metcalf is the leader with a federal $70,000 tax lien and a history of financial issues.  Keepin' it scammy.

Looks pretty good to me.

Gotta ask, how long did it take you to find all that?

You correct in thinking I put some time into this.  Seems odd that no one else has added info.  Are we trying to keep these systems confusing for a reason?  Thinking about thinning out my alt holdings in 2015.  Bitshares and related offerings take up a lot of time.   Proper documentation would make things much easier.

You could propose a "documentation" delegate and get paid for your work. I would vote for that.

We each have our own priorities. We should be willing to compensate those who fill the role of undertaking tasks we do not have time/inclination to do for ourselves but are nevertheless extremely important.

Thank you for your contributions.

Thanks for your suggestion.  I think this is about barrier to entry.  Understanding and maintaining Bitshares and it's related assets takes much more time then an alternative crypto which pushes out those without the time to maintain their holdings.

As much as I'd like to set up a delegate, this would require another investment of more time and money without any guarantee of ROI.

I've invested my own time and money into other projects only to see the devs dump and go underground.  Investing more into the eco-system just to help write documentation?  The guys on the outside are always left holding the bag.  Some of us aren't looking to get rich.  We'd just like to help without being bled to death along the way.  ;)

This is PTS 0.8.5 to the newest PTS client.  This shouldn't involve my already registered BTS account.  Right?

Hi,

How do I transfer my old PTS here?

There are 2 ways to import. Here is the easy way:

Code: [Select]
wallet_import_bitcoin <wallet_filename> <passphrase> <account_name>
FYI - the "bitcoin" name in the command is there because it refers to Bitcoin-style wallet.dat files, including old PTS.

The second way is to use our new "import by signed message" feature: http://pts.cubeconnex.com/index.php?topic=37.msg421#msg421

The second way does not require you to expose your private keys to the client, but requires you to import each address separately. Let me know if you have any trouble.

I've tried quite a few methods with no luck but I recall having similar issues when importing PTS in the past.  On a Mac the original PTS client kept it's wallet.dat and related files in hidden state and in a different place then all other coin wallets.  For whatever reason this will not allow the wallet to import even after changing various settings.

I continued on with importing by signed message.  It appeared to work offline but my balances still remain at zero now that I've taken my wallet online.  Yes, the PTS addresses that I'm trying to import have had funds for a long time.

Any suggestions?  Does my account name need to be registered officially on the network before it will receive the funds?

If you purchased your PTS after 07/15/14 then you aren't eligible for BTS thru the snapshot.

Coinfire, never heard of them before this.

I'm wondering if this is even real or bullshit.  Are there better more reputable sources ?

CoinFire spends a lot of time on letstalkbitcoin.com in the forums.  Nice guy.  I'm read a couple other interesting articles on his site, long before this.

I've been into bitcoin since the early days.  BitSharesX has been one of the more confusing offerings.  Simplifying and streamlining the eco-system is essential for new user adoption and growth.

You have the features.  Making these features easier to use, providing documentation, and improving on these features will drive further adoption.  :)
