General Discussion / Re: Snapshot is better than Airdrop
« on: April 14, 2014, 12:59:21 am »
yes . That is true . But I think some guys who have just realized the importance of bitshare are trying to convince that bitcoin holders have the "privilege" owning bitshare via airdrop.

I get the impression that about half the people in this airdrop discussion don't realize Bitshares XT is still 50/50 PTS/AGS. Are you making this claim about X or about future DACs?

In either case, you make a good point that a snapshot and an airdrop are equivalent and that "snapshot" has less baggage.

Im valuing the X since it has been already snapshot. Now the only way to get bitshare it thru exchange NOT airdrop.

From the beginning of I3 DAC concept, investors like me easily got so much enthusiasm. I like the way where bitshare is right now. But lately due to bitshares relatively low popularity among crypto investors, Airdrop has been introduced by way of marketing. I say this a scheme of rideon tactics by people who heavily invested in Bitcoin with volatile nature and no service aside from trading. The snapshot itself is enough for bitshare to be valuable. and DACs are the cornerstone for marketing.

General Discussion / Snapshot is better than Airdrop

Airdrop is a trending word for cryptocurrency world but Im not buying if it will make bitshare's value diminished. Some guys think for marketing purposes, bitshare may follow airdropping scheme and to let people know bitshare is as valuable as bitcoin. For all I know, bitshare is a whole lot valuable than bitcoin. I begin to suspect that investors who did not see the snapshot being valuable to bitshare as it today are trying to get bitshare with no investment at all. Airdropping is not the way to market bitshare.

I would do the drop in such a way that it's AGS being dropped and not BTS. They'll have to buy BTS, but they'd get AGS so that they share a stake in the future successes of the DACs which honor AGS. This would actually make it more likely that DACs will honor AGS because more people will own AGS.  It would also build the network effect.

This better airddropping scenario. Making BTS valuable.

It's simple logic. Bitshare has more valueble than any other crytocurrencies. That is the essence of the it being snapshot from PTS and BTC holders. Bytemaster has been thoroughly getting the blockchain ready. From Proof of Momentum to DPOS, so much procedures have been endured. And yet some guys think "airdropping" is a good way of marketing bitshare. The way I see it is Bitshare once it released, the value for it will be lessen because it has been distributed via airdropping. This is unacceptable for both PTS and AGS holders that have believed the own capability of bitshare. If airdropping has been pursued, bitcoin holders will simply have bitshares with no investment. Bitshare has its own shadow.

No airdropping is my stand bitshare is for investor that believed on the day of Feb 28 snapshot. If anyone wants bitshare, buy them (if it has gone liquid).

For the sake of arguements, no name dropping please. We all have our stand. Some may agree or not. It is a healthy way of making bitshare a worthy investment.

Indeed I understand the ides of March has passed, NO release of bitshares xt. Security was the main focus of developers. As an investor and at times an app developer, debugging such software is a pain in the neck and needs a lot of time. But diverting from the main objective via another proposal such as Airdropping is a bit concerning. It worries me instead of focusing bitshare products, I3 has shifted the focus on Airdropping, which to me will d evaluate bitshare. Ides of April is next week . Still no sign of release, fortunately there was /is progress report. Time is of the essence and value of the product is at stake. Focus on products .

For marketing purposes, it's a GOOD thing to have a crytocurrency product COMPARE to bitcoin.  What is not good is giving a bit of your trade secrets to the one of at least we say "competitor".  Bitcoin has only its value to prove its profitability. Investors only exchange it to and from fiat to earn. Unlike the concept of bitshare where services are the main stream of profit.

Just to add a little conceptual DNA, stir the pot and stand back 50 kilometers...

Why not simply give each leading mined coin developer a matching DPOS coin that pays interest and honors them one for one?  (PTS and AGS holders get their 10% out of the as-yet-unmined-and-never-to-be-mined-since-mining-is-dead reserve in each coin for providing the free upgrade.)

Now every coin owner has a copy that shares profits and a copy that doesn't.  Upgrade the whole alt-coin community in one swell foop.  Then let market forces handle the inevitable switchover to the upgrade at whatever pace individual investors choose.

BitShares gift to crypto-owners everywhere.  (As long as we're doing promotional stunts.)

wow nice comparison... exploding one's head.  8)

So you are AGAINST airdropping exclusively onto wallets below a certain total number of Bitcoins?

Why would you want the people with thousands of Bitcoins in their wallet to gain a higher share of Bitshares than those with only a few?

[/quote]

I never indicate this as I only persist Im not into airdropping bitshares to bitcoin holders be it small or large quantities.
