Title: system requirements
Post by: konelectric on December 18, 2014, 01:42:46 am
What are the system requirements for the Bitshares program? Mine keeps crashing on my notebook during the opening of ever time. I get 'Critical Error - An error occurred while trying to start. Please try restarting the application.'

Thanks,
Pat

I seem to have managed to compile v0.4.26 (and v0.4.25) on linux (debian jessie) following wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Developer/Build

on two machines:

1) v0.4.26 (did not try any other version)
memory         7912MiB System memory
processor      Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2370M CPU @ 2.40GHz
About 10GB of available disk space.

2) v0.4.25 (did not try any other version)
memory      8GiB System Memory
processor   AMD A4-5000 APU with Radeon(TM) HD Graphics
About 40GB available disk space.

The first one compiled it faster.

Mine is using about 1 GB of RAM on a 64-bit system.

disk:
4.3GB for a fully built source tree
1.4GB for data directory including blockchain.

Seems to also use from 800-1500MHz of CPU usage on one core nearly all of the time with brief (<1 second) intervals of 0 CPU usage (between blocks?)
