Title: Google's Compute Engine
Post by: Jk on December 10, 2013, 03:20:00 am
Hi everyone,

After lurking for a while I decided to register. First of all, thanks to the whole community for sharing knowledge and love of Protoshares.

I have a question about the different options offered by Google's Compute Engine: https://cloud.google.com/products/compute-engine/#pricing

Which instance would be best for mining Protoshares? (I'm trying to use the $1000 credit wisely). Thanks for the help!

Hey, I'm just curious. How long did it take to get accepted after submitting part 2 of the application?

Edit: The answer is 50 minutes. :D

Edit2: After some quick testing on ypool using the latest miner (h version, linux64-corei7sse4-512M), it appears that running the smallest High CPU instance gives the best c/m based on price.

2 cores ($0.131/hr): 38 c/m
4 cores ($0.261/hr): 67 c/m
8 cores ($0.522/hr): 105 c/m

So, running the 8 cores instance is a waste of money.
