BOUNTY – Adapt Open Source Armory Wallet to support Altcoin Protoshares
Lighthouse – Posted by Lighthouse – Anywhere
Job Description
Protoshares is a new bitcoin derived cryptocurrency from Invictus Innovations. It is unique among cryptocurrency because there is a private company who has put a social contract in place that when it releases the products on its roadmap (Bitshares, Domainshares, etc.), whomever holds Protoshares (PTS) will be given shares of the newly released product at a 1:1 ratio to their PTS holdings.
This means that instead of being a currency that trades on the merits of the currency or its network, it trades on the future value of the products that Invictus will deliver to whomever holds them. It is unique among coins in that it has a tangible reason to hold it, periodic and significant payouts of new cryptocurrency.
This unique value proposition and the fact that only 2 million will be mined has led to a very high price even only 12 days after the start of mining, and the adapted BitcoinQT client is insufficient for the task of securely storing. I have started a bounty which has a minimum value of 5BTC or 100PTS, and which might wind up being higher than that if I can convince some larger holders of PTS to contribute.
The most secure bitcoin wallet is http://www.bitcoinarmory.com, it is open source and supposedly not that difficult to convert to a bitcoin based altcoin. Protoshares at a technical level is the latest version of Bitcoin with a new proof of work and modified difficulty/block reward settings.

First or best implementation wins? Deadline?
First to survive or fix 7 days worth of bug fixing and work as the BTC version
-
Please post if you're working on this Bounty
-
Anybody working on this?
-
Bump, any takers here?
-
I have just added 13 PTS to the bounty.
-
Should meet the Armory guys this week. I'll ask how hard it would be to implement.
-
I might dive into this after my finals are over. We'll see.
If it isn't already completed by then, of course.

see my above quote, that is the head honcho of that project after i asked him.
-
Shouldn't this thread be moved to Bountiful Bounties for greater attention?
Alternatively, shouldn't the donations be either returned to donators or turned into angel shares?
-
Looking into this.
-
I think this bounty needs to be tripled. It's very important and it's stalling.
-
When i am done with the coin-control version of PTS i will pay attention to this, i have already talked to the original dev.

Or just wait till the spending power of 163 PTS is much more. Which could be a few weeks as far as Bitcoin is concerned.
Or perhaps we should have a method so that users can simply add their donations to a bounty if the perceive it to be particularly important.

There is a way for interested users to add to the bounty. I did.
See OP:
"If you'd like to add to this bounty, please post your commitment here or send funds to PjXEcwv1MihZXDiKntVxpWCJEgJrczKgEs - I will hold them in escrow until the bounty is filed."

Missed that in OP. Perhaps we should have a donation address for every bounty.

Lighthouse has asked me to take over this bounty. I have decided to increase the bounty and fund it from the AGS address. Everyone who submitted donations to this bounty should post a refund address so Lighthouse can refund your bounty and then I encourage you to use your refund to buy AGS.

I'm swamped with other projects but in the mean time if someone wants to, start by comparing chnges made here https://github.com/FuzzyBearBTC/TRC-Armory to get an idea of what we need to do. Then go make a public git and let me know whre so we work together.
-
I finished this project, ProtosharesArmory is up and running!
We are running a few more tests, but so far everything seems to be working just fine.
How should i proceed to claim this bounty? Push the fork to to github?
What about the licence terms of Bitcoin Armory? Do you need them to be modified?

-
you did awesome! Good job!!!!
-
We are done bugfixing. Everything runs fine!
We successfully tested
-creating wallets
-creating and restoring paper wallets
-sending and receiving protoshares
-creating, signing, reviewing and broadcasting offline transactions
-coinplorer integration instead of blockchain.info
-live connectivity to protosharesd
Let us know how to give you the code.

Converting it to java and release will make it platform independent. Or must it be Python ?
Sincerely.

Great work, can you post a github repository for it and I will have Arlen oversee validation and then we will pay it out.

I uploaded it here: https://github.com/DerKorb/PtsArmory

i just noticed that git deleted a few files that got renamed due to having bitcoin or btc in their name. It should compile in linux but the windows .sln file is missing. I will fix this tomorrow when i am on my other pc.
Edit: looks like the most important stuff is missing aswell, PtsUtils.cpp. Probably forgot to git add a few files before pushing it to github. So this wont work with linux aswell.
-
I know a few other coins that might want this functionality. After this is done could you contact me drekrob?
-
For some reason BitcoinArmory added the whole cpp folder to .gitignore. I added the files manualy now, did a fresh checkout and it compiled and ran fine.
-
I am interested if any of the developers working on this would be willing to keep in contact with me offline to coordinate a debut interview for your armory wallet. Definitely subject to change, but my thoughts on the structure would be:
0-4 min: Introduction (My Introductory Statement, State Episode Purpose "PTS Armory wallet", Introduce Devs)
5-14 min: Developer Introduction/Q&A/Interests
15-19 min: Devs to Audience what "Armory" is (giving props to original BitCoin Armory Devs = good idea for future networking)
\\ Break (An Advertisement for Advertisement Slot)
20-30 min: Overview/Use Cases (w/ screencapture video)
31-35 min: Outro
\\ Show End
*The Interests can be on any topic, but it might be specifically advantageous to present your interests moving forward inthe industry (so we can help establish a higher level of industry respect for you)...or focus on what the community needs and how to contact you with requests/bounties.

Python is platform independent and better than Java in my opinion. Why would anyone want to switch over to Java after all the bugs?
Otherwise good job. We need packages for Linux (Ubuntu/Suse/Fedora) and for Windows 32/64.
-
I guess someone with reputation has to build the binaries. Nobody in their right mind should use binaries for a wallet that were build by someone more or less unknown.
-
We have some of our internal guys building this and will post it on our website. Once they have done that we will pay out the bounty. It is one of their top priorities right now.

Is there a Mac ArmoryWallet?
-
Drekrob, the BitShares PTS (formerly ProtoShares) Armory Wallet for Linux is now being tested and reviewed. Expect to hear something from us within 48-72 hours. Thank you.
-
Any update on the windows client for this?
-
The source i wrote should work with Windows aswell, I did not realy change anything platform dependent.
-
Still checking for final release. Be back later ;)
-
It appears that technically this bounty has been completed, the Armory source code compiles and can run subject to a working protosharesd...
We are going to pay this bounty out for the work done thus far, and offer a new bounty for someone to actually make it easy to use with a one click install. This probably means working with testz to get the latest build of protoshares-qt with the latest seed nodes and the like. The user should have the same (or better) experience as using Armory for Bitcoin.
Please provide me a PTS address... I didn't scan the history to see if you have posted an address.
-
Any update?
-
It works if you can install it.
