Please participate in acknowledging those community members who you feel deserve credit for selflessly helping all our investment grow, here:  https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=10417.msg136922#msg136922

There are many in this community who have done work to move BitShares forward in various ways.  They have selflessly helped solidify a foundation upon which our Network effect continues to grow...and many may never ask for anything in return.  They are the unsung heroes on these forums...

Those few may be too humble to ask for payment, may not believe they are valuable enough to deserve payment, or may live with the belief that their humility and goodwill will someday be reciprocated.

This post is intended to give the community a place where we can begin recognizing these individuals.  Never forget that they are THE KEY to expanding and strengthening our network.  As such, we should make them feel appreciated by honoring their integrity, service and excellence.  Please take a moment to give us a small list of individuals who fit this bill.  Feel free to also express why.  This link will be closed to comments after 7 days (Friday, 31 OCT 14 @11:59pm) so we can prepare Phase II.

Please post names, along with reasons why you are thankful for them (in parenthesis) next to him/her.  If someone has already been acknowledged, do not let that keep you from giving them credit!  Please make sure each post has no more than five of these people for each poster!

General Discussion / IMPORTANT: BTS Merger (Poll)
« on: October 21, 2014, 09:00:59 am »
UPDATE:  The Distribution has already been set by the Invictus Team.  Therefore, we will have no further posts unless others choose to start them.

When this poll is completed, I intend to create and post a thread for people to propose distribution models to current holders of all bitshares tokens (PTS/AGS/BTSX/DNS...etc)

At that point, we will consolidate and have a poll to choose between them. If you are interested in proposing your own model, please begin preparing your statements and reasons.

Each will need to have its own thread so others in the community can discuss--this current poll is only to gauge community interest in moving to a "super"chain (BTS) on that basis ALONE

General Discussion / The Significance of What We Are Doing...(Vote)
« on: October 20, 2014, 09:02:42 pm »
While we are all worrying about how these things are going to effect our investments, we might be forgetting the larger purpose.

Sometimes it is healthy to remind ourselves... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L40N-zOV0mM

So we can ask ourselves..."what are we willing to give, for real freedom."

Notice how everyone simply sits and watches.  Would you?  Or would you do something?  I think...we are here...to do something.

Stakeholder Proposals / Delegate how-to Series
« on: October 19, 2014, 07:53:23 am »
I would like to put together a group of delegates who are interested in helping to pay for someone who is an expert to create a step by step video guide on setting up delegates, first using an instance from...say, amazon..then moving to vids that are more advanced.

If I can gain your support , I will place you on the delegate slate for mumble and will request attendees vote for the slate

461
Id like to start a task force that focuses on garnering the financial support of delegates for the creation of bitshares educational content.  If you are interested in helping please let me know.

“In the technotronic society the trend would seem to be towards the aggregation of the individual support of millions of uncoordinated citizens, easily within the reach of magnetic and attractive personalities exploiting the latest communications techniques to manipulate emotions and control reason.”
― Zbigniew Brzezinski, Between Two Ages: America's Role in the Technetronic Era

Quote
"The technetronic era involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled society. Such a society would be dominated by an elite, unrestrained by traditional values. Soon it will be possible to assert almost continuous surveillance over every citizen and maintain up-to-date complete files containing even the most personal information about the citizen. These files will be subject to instantaneous retrieval by the authorities."
― Zbigniew Brzezinski, Between Two Ages: America's Role in the Technetronic Era

Quote
"Today we are again witnessing the emergence of transnational elites ... [Whose] ties cut across national boundaries ...It is likely that before long the social elites of most of the more advanced countries will be highly internationalist or globalist in spirit and outlook ... The nation-state is gradually yielding its sovereignty... Further progress will require greater American sacrifices. More intensive efforts to shape a new world monetary structure will have to be undertaken, with some consequent risk to the present relatively favorable American position."

Dan has stated: "Mining is the antithesis of what Bitcoin was meant to be"--was it intended this way from the beginning?

If so...what can we do about it?  And how?

Opinions wanted...

Hope you all like it!

14:16 Brian talks about Dan’s thoughts on room in the industry for multiple chains…Bitshares ‘ (Visa) to Counterparty’s Mastercard.

18:20 Fincen and Angelshares?  JoeyD explains parallels between the printing press and blockchain tech, Fuzz questions possibility of Overstock helping fashion regulations that give them an advantage in the market against bitshares and other potential competitors.  Brent Alsop explains his thoughts on what Overstock is doing to make legal blockchain securities and how bitshares will plug and play with this technology.

23:30  Talk about potentially using bitUSD for bitwage and crypto based credit cards and how few altcoins have made any progress at all with credit card system viability.

29:30 Fuzz talks about the power of Decentralized Virtual Conferences and Beyond Bitcoin as a movement and not a brand to be owned by any single person.  He also brings up Murderistic’s proposal to incorporate Google Hangouts into Beyond Bitcoin.  The community assists in providing useful solutions to help bring Beyond Bitcoin to a wider audience.

34:04 Continued conversation regarding Beyond Bitcoin as a means to decentralize authority in the crypto-reporting spheres.

36:11 Talk about a 3rd party DICE DAC being worked on by bitshares Chinese counterparts (JustDice) , who is currently in need of dry run testers.

39:51 Cinni Snapshot and Sharedrop Talk

43:05 JoeyD’s solution to open us up to to the masses.  We can have Google Hangouts and IRC all connected to extend the Mumble Hangout Beyond Mumble.

44:50 Talking about a bitAlliance.  Fuzz talks with Nick Cote Pizpie about NHZ potentially working with BitShares to help form a bitAlliance. JoeyD ‘s response: “No bit and no coin Damnit!”, apparently we need a new name for the bitAlliance…Nick makes no promises but seems to favor the idea, stating all small coins that try to go it alone, will not make it in the future.   Forgers and Delegates can really help fix broken POW coins.

49:52 Brent Alsop states that it will be tough to explain to people just why POW is broken and why altcoins might need help at all.

51:28 JoeyD warns against taking on too many roles to try to help altcoins, talks about how bitshares MUSIC model could be used for something like Sexcoin and Fuzz decides to make his own Sexcoin “Adult Coin”—laughable.

57:31 NXT failures, User Issued Assets, the “Cathedral Model” and the Pope leaving the Cardinals to fight amongst each other...

59:32 A “bitAlliance” of cryptocurrencies that form a common defense against those entities which are anti-crypto and would attempt to undercut our work.

1:00:37 Fuzz appeals to the community to join the Mumble Server in in order to inform orthers of their projects and make appeals to the community to hold hangouts for their projects.

1:01:39 “All you guys have so much value that no one is aware of….” This will become a town hall.

1:04:45 Fuzz and JoeyD talk about the importance of shareholders having low barrier to entry means by which they can attain information in an open manner.  Murderistic talks about the Merits of private meetings.  Fuzz agrees, but expresses hopes to keep as much of the community hangouts possible to be open and public.

General Discussion / BlockNet--could we collaborate?
« on: October 16, 2014, 01:26:08 am »
Protocols here are all that matter with respect to how we use this tech.

NHZ was the first NxT Clone to offer Gateways for all BitShares DACs...and I know for a fact that they love what this community is doing.  I should know...because I helped facilitate it!

Can I get some opinions here?  How can Voltron be built?  And who do you think will be his sword? ;)

Note:   bitUSD has a psychological advantage for non-crypto users and could be used for 5-10 years in the interum until cryptos that are even less volatile can be constructed...this might be a great idea to somehow find a way to work with it.
