General Discussion / Linux QT wallet compilation issues
« on: September 04, 2014, 07:10:23 am »
Hello, I've filed the following bug report about failing to compile the QT wallet in linux. I've been trying for a few days now to no avail, was wondering if anyone could give a hand: https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares_toolkit/issues/742

Thanks!

General Discussion / Re: Project: Writing academic scholars
« on: September 01, 2014, 02:45:23 pm »
This is a great idea. If I have time, I'll go looking for relevant academics. I think bitshares could do with academic exposure. If you look at the number of bitcoin papers in the public access journal arXiv, you'll find 35 (http://arxiv.org/find/all/1/all:+bitcoins/0/1/0/all/0/1). Only 35, for the biggest crypocurrency out there. If we can begin making dents in this, or if any of you guys wrote a paper about bitshares, it would gain bitshares some serious credibility (in some circles anway!).

Just thought of something...

If any of you are university students, then you'll own a university email address. Academics generally take more notice of emails from universities. Afterall, there are some real crackpot theories out there. So yeah, sending these emails from your university account is a good way of getting more attention...

Thanks for the help, I'd also like to know how to quieten the announcement of the number of active connections.

I've also been looking for a helpful beginners tutorial to the CLI.

I like them all except for the Stock Exchange icon. I know what you're going for: an intersecting graph, but I think it's too abstract. How about just your normal rising and falling zig-zag type graph (like this one)?

Yes i know i have done this before but i really like the Bts x cause its a distributed exchange Platform ... So this icon should fit perfectly...
What youR'e thinking about?

I see what you mean now. I knew I recognised that 'x' from somewhere. All I'm suggesting is to integrate the 'x' into a proper graph, like your original design here: http://i.imgur.com/Dcfqzsu.png

Will this be on github so that we can push changes via pull request (push via pull.. sounds strange :-) )

I think this would be good. One of the appeals of I3 is its transparency. Also, I've already found a few typos ;)

I came up with the perfect speaker, can you Guess Who?

Lives close (Salt Lake City, Utah) to Las Vegas, owns Bitcoins himself, CEO of a well-known company that accepts Bitcoin, and stated why his company at the moment doesn't hold onto Bitcoins for more than a day because "There aren't any derivative instruments out there yet to hedge that risk, but we anticipate they will be created in one way or another."

hmmm hard to get that one  !!!  But would be nice if it could happen.

Great idea.

Marketplace / Re: 150PTS - Comprehensive FAQ for new site [ACTIVE]
« on: March 05, 2014, 03:17:37 pm »
@MrJeans:

That FAQ reads well, but I don't think it's good for the 'complete newbie'. For example, I don't think a newbie would know what these terms mean:

"lending into existence" , "short and long positions", "collateral", "market pegging", "prediction markets"

To be honest, these words were big barriers for my understanding of what I3 wants to do. In my opinion, these jargon words are not helpful without definitions.

I think the best FAQ would be something the average person would understand completely without having to refer to another document.

Thanks a lot. Good luck with the snapshot :)

BitShares PTS / Re: [ANN] ptsweb.beeeeer.org - Protoshares mining sub-pool
« on: February 28, 2014, 10:04:07 am »
transactions / payouts for everybody with more than 0.001 PTS and a valid PTS addres are out (for about an hour now!) and are currently in network limbo, we'll have to wait until a block is found and the transactions get their confirmations

Thanks a lot xolokram. You've been a great help to the community and have been really honourable in sending over everyone's remaining PTS before the snapshot.

All you guys need to do is go to File > Make a copy, then filter the now editable spread sheet. That's what I did.

Regarding the last point (http://www.slideshare.net/marksmalley1/bitcoin-is-technology-presented-to-bank-negara-on-4th-of-nove), check out bullet point 8 which corresponds to slide 8 of 10. I'll quote it here:

"8. THE FUTURE – PROJECT KEYHOTEE Communication and Payment as One - http://invictus-innovations.com/keyhotee/"

I'm not sure about this one, but I'll go ahead and add it back; technically, there is an entire slide dedicated to Keyhotee, so it could qualify.  The I3 team has final say anyway, right?  (:

:) Yup.
