We should contact them about bitUSD and then run a fundraiser to integrate with new vending machines and existing shops!  8)

Technical Support / FIXED: v0.6.1 -- Blocks stuck syncing
« on: February 11, 2015, 11:23:07 pm »
Everything was syncing smoothly with 0.6.1 until it got to block #1083620 and now it's not syncing anymore.  I have between 8-15 network connections and have restarted a couple times.  It's similar to my issue with 0.5.3 I mentioned here:  https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=13845.0

Any idea what I can do?   :-[

General Discussion / Re: New Wallet is Coming Along Nicely 0.6.1

Now, someone could say that not everyone has a "powerful" machine (i5 with 16GB RAM and an SSD) but the way I see it there will soon be separate light/mobile BitAssets wallets for our clients. The full Bitshares platform is a tool for shareholders and traders and how can anyone be an "investor" in anything when they can't afford a modern PC?

I've been having issues for awhile now but I'm almost certain it's because I'm only running 4GB RAM.  I have 16GB on order so I'll report back within the next week or so.

We may need to indicate system requirements on the download page to help mitigate 'issues'.

General Discussion / Re: BitShares February Newsletter

The Newsletter is lack of the news from chinese delelgates , should we add on ?

I definitely think we should add on!  I'd love to know what the Chinese delegates are up to and feel they certainly deserve representation in these publications.  Do we have a team working on newsletter translations?

Excellent newsletter!

I especially appreciate the delegate information breakdown... what they're currently working on, progress, goals, etc.  Fantastic job to everyone involved!

I'm keeping an eye on this very closely.  I've been wanting to invest in an arbitrage hedge fund in this space for awhile.  Any idea when other assets will be launched?

Actually, I've learned a lot each time Cob or Eddie has explained something to this community. One thing I've learned is that these guys probably know a hell of a lot more about this business than we do. Let's let them do their thing and get this started. Then we can decide how it should be adjusted.

+5% From what I've read so far the approach Cob and Eddie are taking makes a lot of sense.  It seems they're taking advantage of the strengths blockchain technology can offer (speed, security, proof of consensus, low-costs, auto-pay, etc) and marrying it with the strengths a company can offer (license agreements, use protection, fast/ robust servers, etc) to create a viable yet completely different competitor to Songza, Spotify, iTunes, and the like.  I think we should wait until they release Peertracks before criticizing.. I have a feeling it's going to pretty dang cool.

What does this Mean?

Bitcoin is still young, so the price is still volatile. By using Cryptosigma's Auto-Exchange function you can choose to keep your money in local currency instead of Bitcoin. When you receive Bitcoins they will automatically be converted into your chosen currency; meaning you never have to worry about price volatility.

I'd like to know more about this.  How do they store the local currency?
It'd be beneficial for them to work with BitShares because using BTC would be more expensive than using bitBTC.

Peertracks may be set up pretty well for this. Someone would just need to do the same thing for videos that it's doing for music files.

ha!

Exactly.  That's the beauty of the BitShares protocol.  In fact, if Peertracks proves successful then they could launch Peerflicks using the same model.  BitShares is going to blow minds in 2015.

Shout out to dev0.nikolai, del0.cass, dev.bitsharesblocks, delegate-alt, x.ebit, and many more!  DelegateTip is a really cool idea and could be a unique approach of reaching consensus on trust while recognizing achievement.
