General Discussion / Re: [DAC proposal] Decentralised Forum Software
« on: March 17, 2015, 09:25:36 am »
Who will build it and at what cost?
Blockchain based forum?
Who: well funded developer team, somewhere, say 5 hero developers, 1 year
Cost: ballpark $2M USD
For the blockchain based internet, you can probably scale that by a factor of 10.
Both of these will be developed eventually, its just a question of when really.

Screw that, I can get you reliable coders out of Latvia and Ukraine for a 20th of USD prices and they'll usually get the job done twice as fast too.

That is a decentralized forum app. It's new, simplistic, but I imagine it could be expanded quite a bit to look more like Discourse or something (Maidsafe.org uses Discourse).

Hi guys,
I wanted to let you guys know that https://metaexchange.info is ready to help...
...
Cheers, Paul.

I love the MetaExchange logo :)
Would be cool to see that logo as the site's favicon too (https://metaexchange.info/images/favicon.ico?v=63525568233)..
Just upload a static, high-res version of the logo (no drop-shadows etc) to a site like this:

Can I earn some kind of regular income NOW from bitshares or bitassets?
BitUSD Yield?

I've got bitassets now and am buying at every opportunity. The yield that the bitshares client shows me.. can i have that reinvested automatically somehow? like, take that yield earned and auto-buy some more bitshares or other bitassets? now that would be true income....
not at the moment. I collect Yield once a week for example

ok, i'll try that today in the bts client- grab the yield earned and invest it back into bitshares again.
thanx! :)

I'm sure a Delegate is already workin on this, but thought I might post my observation here..

CoinMarketCap shows all the bitassets except for BitEUR.. Can we get on there somehow?

Shapeshift shows one bitasset now, but not all 6. Can that be fixed too?

His income from his investments (passive income) is just about to exceed his monthly expenses. A very young guy nearing his financial retirement...
On a good day, my income exceeds my expenses. Does that mean I can retire, too?  :o

If you quit working and the income that your investments are generating (businesses, real estate, interest, dividends) is still greater than your expenses, then yes, you are financially retired.

Ok, so there's a guy "Jozzy" on TradingView(.com) that I've been comm with, he makes money every day on bitfinex. Here is the terms he uses to describe how he makes his money. His income from his investments (passive income) is just about to exceed his monthly expenses. A very young guy nearing his financial retirement...

"provide liquidity"
"return swaps"
"provide return swaps"
"provide liquidity to margin positions"

Jozzy - well, I provide liquidity to margin positions on Bitfinex. Current rate is 0.1% per day interest paid.

Jozzy referred me to this page to better explain how to do what he does, via bitfinex:
https://www.bitfinex.com/pages/features#swap

Can anyone direct me to a wiki page or forum thread that teaches me how to do the above with Bitshares and/or Bitassets??
Please and Thank You :)

I'm sold on all of it so far and am still learning new stuff every day. The wiki (even tho it's out of date in spots) has helped tremendously.

I have to get this back to my point, please:
If my new job was to convert companies like DHL, Darkcoin, Badass Coffee, Smith & Wesson and GroceryTown to DAC's, would this be possible?

A) Name the ways please that they could benefit from converting into a DAC.
B) Could they eliminate lawyers, cpa's, bookkeepers, employees, fraud/taxes, risk..?
C) Converting their employees to Delegates of their DAC?
D) Securing their assets? Their inventory? Their Staff?

DACs can only handle the transfers of money and voting ..  I can't imagine how Darkcoin could use BItshares.

I may need to make a separate thread for this.
I have to say up front here, as a COO and Consultant, I have been approached by 2 major companies now that need direction.

Can the Community here give me some selling points for them, please?
I'm sold on every aspect of Bitshares so far... This is big.

From now on Tuck, i'm just gonna drop the word Bitshares here and there, maybe once a week or so, no opinion attached, I'll just use it as a comparison to the topic at hand. Never more than once in a thread either.

My focus is on the business community. Getting the power of Bitshares to businesses is a primary focus (i'm trying to figure out a way to migrate to Bitshares entirely in my point of sale systems company). Another company has brought me on as their COO and they specialize in international remittance and asset management services. As I learn more, I'd like to start converting businesses to DAC's and become a Delegate of some sort. Maybe even a Delegate of each DAC that I manage ya think? I dunno, I'm still learnin :)

thanx everyone :)

Roger that Cass. I was just trying to give responses to everyone who had input on what I was saying, but now that I look at it, you're right, it turned into quite the drawn out conversation :)
