General Discussion / New website and merchant list
« on: October 07, 2017, 10:52:03 am »
Hi guys,

In view of the coming update of the new webiste I think it is essential that we have a tab with merchants accepting bitassets. Even the most crap coins have such a tab stating a couple of merchants.

http://www.bikelounge.gr , which is located in the biggest Mall in Athens, has been accepting bitassets for years now (although no one has ever bought anything with bitassets yet).

I am sure there are a couple of others throughout the world that accept bitassets and are not listed on bitshares.org

Another important point for merchant adoption is to make it stupid easy integration. Most coins have that and we don't after so many years.. smartcoin mobile wallet and blockpay were at a good point of development and then the whole fiasco happened so ...

We have been in the market way too many years now and it seems we are stuck in things that even the most crap coins seem to resolve..
Make something for merchant stupid easy integration and reliable and I will bring you a couple of the most popular hotels and a couple of the most popular bar restaurants of Athens to accept bitassets. Then I am sure that others will follow.

Maybe Ocash cards and @kenCode new mobile wallet will eventually come out at some point and this will also help. But we need more...We need merchant integration with a click of a button.

General Discussion / Re: Difficult questions

I would say relax and enjoy cheap prices but this is just me.. ;)

Even if that happens we have OL which is regulated in Danmark, which will have mastercard for instant conversion between bitassets ato fiat. If all the US and Chinese exchanges delist bts, most probably people believing in bts will transfer within the DEX. I am sure that in time a lot of others will see the opportunity that OL sees and will adapt accordingly..

However what is missing is the merchant adoption of bitassets and I think our marketing should concentrate there. We need a marketing worker proposal for merchant adoption asap. Everything else will be resolved by itself..

All in all, no problem. Just short term dumps so enjoy while it lasts..

wow.. I have tried the multisig thing with a couple of accounts and I can say I did not manage to do it...Also it seems now that I get error messages and I can no longer transfer funds from these accounts..I tried all that with very few funds so I don't mind but I would advise to people who don't know like myself what they do to be EXTREMELY CAREFUL WITH THAT AND DO NOT TRANSFER A LOT OF BTS IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO IT!!

I will explain what I did:

Account XXX went to permissions ==> Active Permissions
Threshold: 52

Add account YYY weight 50
Add account ZZZ weight 50
The public key was there by default with weight 1 so I left it as it was.

Publish changes ==>
Transfer funds ==> Transaction not processed with a string in red with error messages.

Now I can no longer do anything with this account. Or can I?

On another XXX I did:

Threshold 51
Account YYY weight 50
Account ZZZ weight 50
Removed the defaulted public key.

Tried to transfer and I get an error that not beeing able to sign no private key. Again have I lost access to that account as well?

All in all, not very user friendly...

I understand multisignature protection in different computers but I may have misunderstood something so please advise.

If one has a pc where all his bts wallets a are in this pc (hence all his bts accounts as well) an attacker who gains access to that pc can equally easily have access to all wallets and accounts right?

So what is the point of multisignature as protection in this case? Would it be difficult to hack 2 different accounts with 2 different passwords as long both are on the same pc or since he gains access to the pc he can hack easily all passwords?

In this case what is the best way one can protect himself? Should we have for example 1 web wallet and 1 light wallet with i.e 1 account to each of this wallets that in order to take a transaction both have to sign 50-50 permissions? Or something else?

General Discussion / Re: account trans.bot hacked today
« on: September 27, 2017, 05:37:46 pm »
That really sucks. But there must be a way to protect ourselves from this kind of attacks.since it is easy to prove that trans.bot is indeed your account can't witness block the hackers account, or do a softfork or something?

General Discussion / reserve pool for EOS?
« on: September 26, 2017, 12:49:18 pm »
I remember at some point a discussion about an amount from the reserve pool to be used to buy EOS so bitshares shareholders can have a stake when EOS is launched. What happened to this? Personally I think EOS now is at discount now so maybe a good opportunity to do this if we do wish so.

thoughts?

lol... I could not resist to comment this... 2 new accounts that never posted anything suggest to burn the reserve pool and think that price is going down because of this extra supply..that is funny.. :)

Anyway, historical lessons.. This has been extensively discussed in the past so NO! Bitshares took a huge hit because of this extra supply ages ago...And most of us in here took that hit ages ago so you can now enjoy what bitshares has to offer and be able to have this reserve pool...This proposal belongs to the past..We won't burn the reserve pool but feel free to make a worker proposal anyway. @perryjw1969 and @red-head may I also suggest that you go buy lots of bitshares on the market so you can vote yourself about this proposal and implement it.

General Discussion / Cryptocompare
« on: September 02, 2017, 01:34:30 pm »
Hi guys,

I have recently discovered cryptocompare.com which I found it to contain a lot of useful info. The site displays analysis of coins like coinmarketcap but each coin has also a forum. Our presence in this forum is simply non existent and I think we should start posting there about developments and important info. Other coins like xrp bch have really strong forum presence there.

Technical Support / Re: Etherium withdraw stucked

My btc appeared so everything is on order  :).

However, we should not be expected to send numerous emails and complain in public forums for our deposits and withdrawals to be processed...And still not an official answer for the reasons of the delays..

I agree with you..This is completely unprofessional and harms bitshares ecosystem since most people link open ledger with bitshares which is wrong since open ledger is just another centralized exchange.

I have a btc deposit outstanding for 3 days now.. So far 3 emails with no reply... I will give them a couple of hours to respond and if not I will open a separate thread for this..

@ccedk please get organized mate!! This is really unprofessional and hurts bitshares.. You can't post all the time about obits and Icoo and provide this kind of service..

Random Discussion / Re: EOS Price

First of all I doubt that the Larimers are just for the money. I believe Dan has some ideals above money and would prefer to be remembered as someone who truly changed the world rather just become another very rich person. In the end of the day I think he has already earned a lot so money should not be an issue here. He really likes his work so he will deliver.
secondly if you believe that eos will be delivered then comparing to eth, eos is ridiculously cheap now..
at least this is my opinion..i was wrong many times in the past about my predictions..

this looks great! A couple of points that I am sure you will fix are the decimals since all numbers appear in billions (not there yet  :)..) and some spelling such as femail instead of female etc..

Thank you very much for doing this!!
