What exactly are miners delivering to warrant at 95% cut?

Distributing the initial currency, securing the network, devoting attention to the project.   Quite similar to PTS actually, which seemed to work pretty well for you.

So why is that a bad choice for Barwizi to make?  What is he missing out on by not following your guidance because he doesn't much seem to care.

What allocation are you doing in the genesis block?

I'll allocate only 1% , i'd like people to actually mine this, rather than depending on their PTS to just accumulate them stake. While it benefits the company to have a wider user base, i'll also need people to make real investment in the ideas and ventures. But since we all seem to be on good terms, NIG will be participating and assisting I3 in all ways possible, including funding mutually beneficial projects.

Again we see the limitations of defining in text what the invisible hand wants.  Seems like so far the invisible hand wants 1% rather than the 10% prescribed.

As far people offering 1% and preferring to 'mine' it into existence... I just shake my head.   Obviously you are attempting to mirror our business model in some manner and imbuing your coins with additional backing.   Without a 10% honoring we will not be able to back, promote, or otherwise support your coin.

Maybe Barwizi hasn't seen enough value to warrant 10% - What exactly is invictus delivering for that 10 in an investment DAC?

Will you be honoring AGS and PTS?

Keyhotee / Re: Keyhotee Status Update

chat功能尽早取消吧,典型忽悠特性。突出加密特性邮件,不提倡用这样贵的资源,实现华而不实的聊天。再说,无法解决的p2p结构造成的延时,chat体验也不会很好。
The chat feature will be mainly used via "direct connect", not via broadcast messaging, so it should be efficient in it's final form. No proof-of-work will be required for direct connections between friends.

what about the group chat ?

btw, the keyhotee progress is much slower than what i expected.  even now you can't release the 'decentralized' features.

What is the source of your expertise in determining an expectation for how long it should take to develop an application?

Given the launch of the genesis block for Keyhotee was publicly announced for New Years Eve, then January and now the end of February it seems pretty apparent progress has not gone to plan.  No commenter has suggested they were experts at predicting progress, I think the better question is what can Invictus do to better manage the expectations of their community?    Daily updates on the core products are a great start and seem to have gone a ways in instilling confidence into the system, but being challenging and passive aggressive responses to the people supporting your work and whose expectations are not being met by your mismanagement does not seem like a wise long term strategy to me.

Embrace your weaknesses, don't get prickly.  We're all humans, we all have failing and we're all working as hard as we can to bring a brighter future into being.   Complaints are critique, and while unvested critique might be noise the signal is listening to those who have enabled your success and continued progress.  Their interests align with yours, that was the whole point of this exercise.

Can we not make this donation based? The ideal solution would be to make it free for everyone to attend. The more people that attend this event, the fast adoption will happen.

Brian and I discussed various pricing options, including having it be entirely free.   Our conclusion was that even with a free ticket, the expense to attend (hotel, travel, food, etc) was already 3x even a $300 ticket fee.  Our conclusion is that anyone willing to pay $1000+ in travel expenses would consider a $300 ticket fee to be insignificant in the economic calculation on whether or not to attend.

We will probably be spending more than we earn in ticket sales to produce the best conference in Bitcoin history... so I think a scholarship program for people who deserve to be there given their ideas, but are unable to afford it.   This really must be done on a case by case basis.

Didn't you already raise funds for this with Angelshares?  If you're concerned about expense I don't really understand the choice for Vegas or frankly putting on "the best conference in bitcoin history".   Either cost matters or it doesn't, don't skimp on the next generation of talent to keep more budget for Bitshares Babes.

We believe that AGS donors expect us to make responsible business decisions with their donations.  Part of that involves putting on events that at least partially pay for themselves.  Standard marketing industry best practices do involve giving away free T-shirts and sponsoring "fun" events that the more fiscally conservative technocrats among us might find "unnecessary".  We'll leave that to the marketing professionals.  On the other hand, we are challenging all of our department managers to run their departments in the black.  That is one of the practical controls that keeps things from running amuk while allowing each manager the freedom to ply his or her skills to the max.

Cost matters.  Performance matters.  Balance matters.

Nobody suggested making the event free, I just was asking if the point of the AGS "buffer" wasn't to enable the growth and benefit of the ecosystem that would lend itself to a robust sponsorship program where you guys get to choose interesting projects/individuals to include.  The ticket price paid by normal attendees subsidizes the more interesting, resource challenged individuals.

I agree cost should matter which is why putting on "the best conference bitcoin has ever seen" in las vegas doens't make a ton of sense to me.  If you're really going for maximum impact per dollar, Spend the money flying interesting people into virginia for workshops at an expanded HQ.

If the point is to grow the ecosystem and have a good time, vegas makes sense.   I am aware of the developer conference we're piggybacking, just not that that convinced of its value.

Whatever you charge, make sure you have a large grant program that lets people with interesting projects or ideas submit for free tickets subsidized by the cost of the others.

BitShares AGS / Re: Invested in AGS from Coinbase webwallet
« on: February 07, 2014, 07:34:25 pm »
When you invest in angelshares, they track the address the funds came from.  With Coinbase, they have all the bitcoins in a big rotating storage system so the address they would have been sent from would not have been attached to your coinbase account.

So yeah, I think you're screwed on that donation.

Hi Adam, are you sure about this ? I recall when i invested, i check the angelshares explorer and my permanent coinbase wallet address showed in the list of donators along with the correct amount i invested.

If its a matter of "im screwed on that donation" well i'm gonna have to talk to bytemaster as that would be unacceptable. I have records of the investment.

I am not sure about this, and if Coinbase has permanent addresses that are attributable to you that might solve things.  Also as you mentioned, if you can positively identify your donation there *should* be a way for invictus to make sure you get your due.

but generally speaking, you'll recover your AGS by importing your wallet.dat that contains the private key to the address you donated from.   I don't know how you can do that with Coinbase, but if you can than no problem.

Would like to see a bit more information, do you have a thread posted anywhere with full info?

I am interested if any of the developers working on this would be willing to keep in contact with me offline to coordinate a debut interview for your armory wallet.  Definitely subject to change, but my thoughts on the structure would be:

0-4 min:  Introduction (My Introductory Statement, State Episode Purpose "PTS Armory wallet", Introduce Devs)
5-14 min:  Developer Introduction/Q&A/Interests
15-19 min:  Devs to Audience what "Armory" is (giving props to original BitCoin Armory Devs = good idea for future networking)

\\ Break  (An Advertisement for Advertisement Slot)

20-30 min:  Overview/Use Cases (w/ screencapture video)
31-35 min:  Outro

\\ Show End

*The Interests can be on any topic, but it might be specifically advantageous to present your interests moving forward inthe industry (so we can help establish a higher level of industry respect for you)...or focus on what the community needs and how to contact you with requests/bounties.

Sounds great! ;)

If you have chops, I want to give you a platform.   Honestly Invictus should be the sole sponsor of this show for the first six months at least.

email me adam@letstalkbitcoin.com  I'm talking with a guy over at NXT who is doing the same thing for their community, I want to have a show for every metalayer :)   They all have their own developing, rich ecosystem and I want to keep up on all of them but don't have enough time lol.  I could do four hours a week, and then take the best segments from each week to make a show that mixes content from all protocols.

I would love to have them as the sole sponsor.  However, I would also like to start doing interviews and updates from DACs that start adding onto the cornerstone Invictus has laid.  As far as the platform, I am interested in your opinions on this matter.  I have pm'd Bytemaster on the forums for a kind of informal blessing beforehand as I would like to ensure the message I convey is one running parallel to the wishes of both the community and Dev team as opposed to just pumping it full of topics and discussions that potentially run counter the plans Invictus is planning for their move forward.

I would also like to start giving voice to the individual community members who are building useful utilities for the community so they can debut their work for the community and see visual step-by-step guides to utilizing these tools to the greatest effect.

Bytemaster and I spoke about this today, sounds like he's into it!
