Technical Support / Does Bitshares 0.9.3c import all older wallets?
« on: November 07, 2015, 07:48:25 pm »
I have an old Bitshares wallet backup (BitShares X Wallet Backup.json 107kb) from October 29, 2014 (maybe from ver 0.4.24)

I tried importing it to a new installation of 0.93c but it does not accept my password (i'm 99.999% sure it is correct)

I don't know what version it was created on and have no idea what to do.  The error I get:

edit: I found an old backup directory with bitshares ver:????, and it opened the wallet with my password.  I tried exporting from there, but it still didn't import to 0.93c

Technical Support / How can I see the MEMO part of a transaction?

How can I see the MEMO part of a transaction?

I transferred 500 BTSX to Btc38 from Bittrex

http://www.bitsharesblocks.com/blocks/block?id=867532

the btc38 communication is a bit cryptic (translated Chinese probably) so I don't understand why they have not received it

General Discussion / Build your own DAC app!
« on: October 19, 2014, 01:55:43 am »
Stumbled on this site and made me think how amazing it would be if we could build our own DAC with an app like this:

http://www.como.com

..and if not a full DAC as it is probably super complicated, atleast the GUI for it.  Is this unrealistic at the moment?

this is just a "sample" of how the process may look

UPDATE:  I totally misread the post below, so I am adding some RED notes to show what has been clarified to me, didn't mean to deceive anyone!

I just found this post

But isn't market cap calculated by price of coin * current price per coin?
Yes number of available coins * price per coin.
What happened BitsharesX has overtaken them on marketcap and they did not like to get past down the rank so they went to the old trickery book and changed the available number of XRP from 8bil to 28bil. Of course there where not 20bil sold at an instant in fact not even the 8bil from before where all sold, so there marketcap was "wrong" to start with. The total sold is somewhere in the millions to date. In this case the correct way to calculate marketcap would be sold coins * price per coin but he wait that is wrong as well because RIPPLE set the price. If you control the coins its not a free market unlike ever other coin.
Overall they (RIPPLE) are literately worse than the FED

and this from before [using google search ;)]

If you have a look in the client at the assets tab you also find the maximum share supply 10 billion. No idea why this actually is.

Code: [Select]
>> blockchain_get_asset 0

{
  "id": 0,
  "symbol": "BTSX",
  "name": "BitShares X",
  "description": "Decentralized Autonomous Exchange",
  "public_data": "",
  "issuer_account_id": 0,
  "precision": 100000,
  "registration_date": "20140719T000000",
  "last_update": "20140719T000000",
  "current_share_supply": 199998457024777,
  "maximum_share_supply": 1000000000000000,
  "collected_fees": 16992815762
}

But yes there are never going to be more than 2B BTSX so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

What is the truth, how many BTSX shares are there?

Was it changed?

Is there a non-technical summary of all these changes somewhere? For a simple overview?

Is this true?

General Discussion / Can PTS be made PoS as per PND or BlackCoin
« on: October 15, 2014, 01:50:59 am »
I followed closely the transition of PND (Panda coin #3) from DOGE style POW to (I believe) BlackCoin style PoS

They have completely redesigned the 'QT' and rebranded it PandaBank.  It is really slick etc.. but most importantly it is no longer POW!!!

In the spirit of Bitshares, wouldn't it be a great idea to fork PTS to become Proof of Stake

PND started out to be a 100billion PoW coin, and then after about 3-4 months they just all of a sudden forked and capped the total number of pandas at 32billion.  It went rather smoothly.

[i'm not here to promote PND, but here are is the link to the site I'm talking about: http://pandacoinpnd.org/]

Any thoughts on this?

Technical Support / Where do you buy BTSX?
« on: October 14, 2014, 09:20:00 pm »
looking at coinmarketcap, I see btc38 and bter as the top markets and they both charge 1% withdrawal fee, and a 1 BTSX feee, and the normal trading fee.

Where do you buy BTSX with the minimal cost?

Technical Support / Registering an address
« on: October 12, 2014, 06:40:26 pm »
I'm sure this has been discussed before, I can't find the solution though.

Please help, how can I get some BTSX if neither BTC38 nor Bittrex transfer any to an account key?

Am I missing something, this ought to be FRONT & CENTER info

Thanks for any help
